The bloke is a clown. A wonderful, show stopping, all singing-all dancing, loveable joker who plays to the gallery like only Ali in his pomp could ever equal.
His pre-race antics are, in some ways, a form of domination. Out there on the track, he is not only entertaining the crowd before the race, but he is also sending out a message to the other athletes.
"Look at me... I'm relaxed and calm while you're stressed. I don't need to fix my focus down the track because I'm so good I don't need to. And look at these fans. They love me, not you. They've come to watch me win this race and you know that I'm not going to let them down. I'm better than you. You can't beat me."
They're beaten before the starter even calls them to their marks.
Michael Johnson said in the BBC commentary box that Usain Bolt is a very humble man.... a decent person and his love of the crowd is genuine, not just a show. I am willing to believe that.
He is the king of the track at this time. We should enjoy his showmanship as well as his incredible sprinting, while it lasts because when he is gone, as one day he inevitably will be, we will never see his like again.
