The New Adventures of Superman, brilliantly written with two excellent lead actors and with plenty of action.

If I had to pick just one, I would go for NYPD Blue. Dennis Franz was superb

I feel left out only saying one show!

    My top three -

    1. West Wing

    2. ER - in the days of Anthony Edwards (Mark Greene), George Clooney (Doug Ross), Eric De Salles (Peter Benton), Sherry Springfield (Susan Lewis), Paul McCrane (Robert Romano), Julianna Margulies (Carol Hathaway), Kellie Martin (Lucy Knight) and Noah Wyle (John Carter)

    3. The Sopranos

Closely followed by Everybody Loves Raymond and Frasier.

Agreed, it paved the way for TV cop shows after that, and indeed all TV shows after that. Excellent production values and a great cast behind the extravagant colours and action. James Edward Olmos was fantastic as Castillo!

Hill Street Blues really just set the ball rolling before Miami Vice in the police procedural.

I'd also add the A-team simply for it's covert mimicking of other action dramas, with it's comical violence and the repetitve but always extravagant stock situations :D.

A mention to Diagnosis Murder (anyone who manages to get his entire family to appear on a TV show deserves an award)

Knight Rider the Hoff enough said.

Other than that there are more modern shows Shark was fantastic before it was cancelled. James Woods was fantastic and the production values were very good. House was great fun at first, before the new cast arrived. Lost got boring and repetitive after 10 episodes. Currently I'm hooked to The Mentalist and can't wait for the new season to start.
