Did they just say on the scanner that they're thinking about negotiating with him instead?
Could be the best way of keeping him alive...
What have they got that he might want? Even if they promise not to try him in Federal Court (so not to enforce the death penalty) he'll live out his days in solitary confinement - for his own safety than anything else. Unless an angry prison officer makes him join the other prisoners so they can rip him to pieces.
BBC News switching back and forth between their own live feeds and those of WCVR TV Boston. They were just looking over the fence to where the boat house was.
A stun grenade, also known as a flash grenade or flashbang, is a non-lethal explosive device used to temporarily disorient an enemy's senses. It is designed to produce a blinding flash of light and loud noise without causing permanent injury. It was first developed by the British Army's SAS in the 1960s.
I really think a hose in there would have been a good idea:o, the noise & instant cold would have pretty instantly put him into shock knowing he is likely weak already. If not, what about some other way of creating cold around him?
Fox reckons robot might've set off a flashbang...WETF that is.
It's non lethal grenade that is designed to disorientate someone (or a room full of people) rather than to kill. Gives off a very bright flash of light and a bang.
Never played Call of Duty, Battlefield or Medal of Honor?.

But how would they have got the hose close enough? Any movement towards the boat and he would have started shooting/throwing bombs.

Wouldn't they have come out as soon as the police arrived?
