    Danny Boyle's "Trance"

Could have been good, I think he wants to be tarantino, a lot of style and no substance and some meaningless music thrown in

    The French Connection 2 1975

I am conflicted about this film. I know this is a great film and yet I think it shouldn't have been made.
The masterpiece that is the French Connection, should be without a sequel as the events in that film were based on a true story. FC2 is a work of pure fiction and does nothing to enhance the legacy of Friedkin's original.
I would even go so far as to say this film, to some extent, tarnishes the impact of the original.

Having said that, the acting, the plot, the supporting cast and the dialogue is superb. The only fault with this film is that it exist at all.

Get Him To The Greek. Didn't love it , just an ok film.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was much better, love that film.

Rose Byrne was great in it though ; so funny. Wish the film had been based round her. She is increasingly becoming one of my fave actresses.

Casino Royale, finally getting round to watching the Daniel Craig Bond films. Really enjoyed it, spend half of it drooling at the locations though

John Carter on Mars - I seem to recall it got a proper slating but it wasn't too bad. Some bad dialogue but nothing unexpected. Not so much worse than Avatar.

The Raven - A good little murder mystery movie

Lookout - Die hard in space. I enjoyed it. Thought the early SFX scenes were rubbish though (the chase scene)

    The Purge 4 /10

In a futuristic society, The US Government has sanctioned a 12 hour free for all crime spree, to purge Americans of all their pent up anger and frustration.

Basically a very lack lustre home invasion thriller, a good premise but executed so poorly, rubbish acting and gaping holes in the plot. Apparently there is going to be a second one, so hopefully a better director and script will happen.

    Very disappointing.

Just reading up on these two and saw that both had a strong British/Irish presense (and a Brit cousin if you include the aussie)

Perfect Creature ... again. I love this film and it's a shame there was never a sequel as it had an interesting take on the vampire story.

I too was on a vamp theme last night.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer - I was under the assumption that this was a comedy - just by the title alone made me think that :D
    It was ok.
If a movie ever needs a young version of Liam Neeson then the lead in this could fill that role.

Underworld Awakenings - Popcorn action. Just nice to see Kate Beckinsale in tight suit kicking ass.

Stake Land - Again, for some reason I thought this was a comedy in the same vein as Zombie Land.
    Boy was I wrong.

It was a terrific film though. One of the best i've seen in some time. I'd give it a 8.5/9 out of 10.

Also nice to see the gorgeous Danielle Harris.

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia

For all you ISIHAC fans out there. Sam Peckinpah's stab at the male existential 'road to hell' sub-genre, with Warren Oates as the eternal loser desperate for the bounty. The dank, humid Mexican backwaters are the perfect backdrop, and there's a fantastic performance from Oates. Violent, deranged and rather great. 8/10

    Three Days of the Condor

Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway in all their mid-seventies pomp. Excellent conspiracy thriller that while never really getting into fifth gear, is certainly good entertainment as it tootles along. 7/10

Sex Drive 6/10 - Bog standard teenage boy wants to lose his virginity type comedy. Despite that, I still found it entertaining.

A few days back I watched the original
'Terminator' and last night I watched
    'Terminator 2:Judgement Day'.
I like both films and compared to the
lame 'Terminator 3' and the pathetic
'Terminator 4' they look like works of
    genius!

Due Date (on lovefilm) - very poor rehash of Plane Trains and Automobiles, The director Todd Phillips (The Hangover) is clueless with comedy in my opinion.

Outbreak - I like this film. There aren't many films that I was several times but have seen this half a dozen or so times.

Contagion - Not as good as Outbreak

    Paradise Lost trilogy.

    Fantastic 9/10.

It was very disturbing, the nature of the crimes, the witch hunt, that innocent teenagers were sentenced to death row. I urge everyone who hasn't seen it to watch it.
