Out of interest, how do you propose that he started a fire on someone else's property by accident?
He may have been smoking on the premises and something caught alight. Or he may have been playing with some sort of accelerant and the fire started without deliberate intention on his part.
As for the boy that started the fire, it is too early to cast judgement and call him such vitriolic names. He has not been found guilty of a crime yet. This could have been an accident rather than something more deliberate and sinister.
He should be put in a child institute until he is old enough to serve a lengthy prison sentence. But seeing as our government haven't got the balls to bring in lengthy sentences for minors, perhaps it's time to bring back national service & sent ***** like him to somewhere like Iraq & serve for his country. I am normally against our men & women fighting over there, but when it comes to murdering delinquents, I couldn't think of a better place for him to be.
Well, a chicken farm is a business set up to make it's owner money and not a charity set up to help chickens. The chickens on a chicken farm will die soon enough anyway. Strange comparison.
As for the donations, well I've already said that I'm happy for mine to be used to help with the running of the place in the future even if the insurance does cover the cost of rebuilding. They relied on charity before this so nothing has changed in that regard. If they decide not to be rebuild then call me naive if you like, but I'd presume that those running it won't just scarper with the money and will pass it on to other dogs' homes.
Yeah, that's what you'd like to think. But when push comes to shove, not many people are willing to give a way half a million pounds (the total amount raised so far), especially if they reason that they are entitled to it due to some sort of emotional trauma.

Sad story but there is nothing like an online bandwagon, is there? Would everybody be throwing money hand over fist if this were a chicken farm? I doubt it.
Also, I don't see what donating money to the owners can achieve either; surely the insurance will more than cover this? Also, the owners may not even plan on rebuilding the dog home or continuing to run it, now that it has been destroyed. Therefore, the money would be better spent being given to an existing dog home, rather than one that has been incinerated and may not even reopen.

I would, yes. Animal cruelty is animal cruelty, the type of animal - to me, especially as a vegetarian - is irrelevant.
The main point here is that there has been a tragedy, a really horrible and nasty act (the police are saying it's arson, and so me must therefore accept their view that this is not accidental), people care and want to help. Something good has come of this utterly horrendous incident.

Probably best not to feed it ;-)
I'm proud to go against any grain that sees fit to call a 14-year-old such wicked names and wish such heinous things upon him before all the facts have emerged and he has stood trial in front of a jury of his peers.

Yeah, I think i'll apply Occam's Razor to this one.
Can you even begin to imagine what those poor helpless dogs and puppies went through.
It breaks my heart.
My dog is a rescue dog we had him from a dogs home in Shrewsbury
I am saying nothing about the boy he has yet to be proven guilty..
Going to make a donation now wish I wish could be larger.

I think you'll find a 14 year old is the wicked one.

It was arson, arson is not an accident. When you commit arson you know exactly what you are doing.
I can imagine why they would have donated right at the beginning, but seeing as the fund now stands at half a million with no actual description as to what exactly they're going use the money for it does seem a bit pointless to keep giving them money.
Temp running cost, all new supplys will be needed, and i would say covering the cost of other centres that take in the dogs at the moment

It really isn't as they rely on donations already, before this happened - in the local Asda, there's an all year round (I think, I don't go in there too often) bin in the store for people to put food donations in. I'm sure every penny will be put to good use and if they have enough to bank and use in future years - sadly, there will always be dogs in shelters like this - then so much the better.
I'm astonished to see the thread has become so negative, in particularly about the fundraising and donations, it's really disheartening. And as for making excuses about the culprit....! >:(

Yes, if it waddles like a duck & quacks like a duck......................
The same applies to trolls, obviously.
I'm imagining that you'd do nothing.

I'll wait for the trial, thanks.
However, what also saddens me is the pitchfork mob menatility here.
Why have you quoted me in that post?
Whoops! Wrong post. Fixed now.
