Using XBox360 controllers on PC

I am looking at buying an Xbox360 controller for my PC games as I have read this is a good controller for the PC. I know the wired controller should just plug into the usb, but could I use the wireless controller (if so, how)?
I am also looking at getting a wireless keyboard for the same PC and noticed the Xbox Messenger chatpad that fits onto a controller. Could this be used on the PC?
Thanks in advance.

To use the wireless controller you'll need one of these, the plug and charge kit does not turn a wireless controller into a wired one. Not sure about the keyboard add on thing, I've not go one.
