0700 phone numbers. Cost on Virgin Land Line

Does anyone know the cost per minute of calling an 0700 NHS
Patient phone on A Virgin media land line. I cannot seem to find the cost anywhere. It does seem to be a tax on sick people in hospital as there does not appear any alternative way of speaking to them on the phone.

The alternative is via their mobile phone. It DOES NOT cause any problems with medical equipment - this is just a ploy to make you pay for the expensive in house stuff, which incidentally, also charges the person called, as well as the caller!

When my friend was in hospital, I was told by a Senior Consultant surgeon to tell his daughter to take in his moby. That surgeon used their own phone while in the theatre!

In my experience, hospitals generally allow patients in general wards to use their own mobiles, and indeed to plug chargers in to the sockets. Exceptions might obviously be in intensive care or other specialist areas with sensitive equipment, or where disturbance might be made to other patients.

I remember when I was in hospital a couple of years ago, one of the nurses tried to tell me I could not plug any charger into the mains unless I could prove it was PAT tested !

Naturally she was told to go away politely
