Hi,
I am due in a magistrates court in a couple of weeks and may face a fine for a driving offence.Right now money is tight and my dad has said he can pay the fine and then I pay him back gradually. I have no idea how fines work but was wondering if he could pay directly or if it had to come from me.

Thank you for your help

The court doesn't care who pays, so long as it gets paid.

I'm sure I remember, back when arthur scargill was famous, he was twice convicted of offences, and fines. He made a big, well publicised, thing of refusing to pay, and insisted he'd rather go to prison.

Luckily, some anonymous benefactor paid his fines. Both times. How lucky was that?

Very lucky - and about as believable as his hairstyle at the time.

It does not matter who pays it, as long as it is paid.

That's easier if a sentence is made in abstensia and a warrant is issued. When they arrive at your hourse, make sure your patsy is drugged up enough to say 'that's me' when they ask to see you and they will indeed be the one shipped off :D

Why not just get your dad to give you the money and then you pay it?
