What a nasty advert! Nature is crap, toys are brilliant. Crass commercialism at its very very worst.

Lucky kids, I wish they took to me toys r us and I could choose any toy I wanted instead of walking around in mud looking at trees

There's a longer version of this in that this also doubles up as their advert for April 1st.

That's almost as horrible as this Littlewoods advert from a couple of years ago.

Hey kids! Demand expensive presents, your 'muvver' will just get into debt, it's fine. Oh and there is no Father Christmas, it's your 'muvver'.

Yeah, that one was ****ing annoying, and why do so many of these adverts make out it's only ever the women buying presents? Either that or the dads are buying awful ones

A trip to an out of town warehouse is better than a pesky outing to the countryside. Yay for Toys R us. :D

If you watch the behind the scenes video of it it says all the kids were linked to different charitys so its really not that bad.

Yes it is that bad. All the advert will do is turn even more kids into tantrum throwing beggars! It sets a terrible example in that it sends the message of it being better to shun nature in favour of plastic, videogames and that it is okay to get whatever you want.

And if those kids were from disadvantaged homes, etc, then would it not be better to take them to the great outdoors instead of a chain store?

Don't know about anyone else but i'd much rather have been in a forest where i could climb trees and cause trouble when i was young, than go to a toy shop where i couldn't actually even buy anything?

I was never allowed anything from toy shops so i would probably have just got annoyed at having to go there!

It's a toys r us advert, not a nature advert

Some people will look for anything to get wound up by

I don't go looking for things to get wound up by. I have lost track of how many times I have been in shops and kids have been throwing tantrums because they want something. This is happening more often nowadays. Adverts like this are no example! It sends a very clear message that it's perfectly alright to get exactly what you want and that nature is bland and boring compared to a toy store.

The advert has done its job then. Or do we ban companies from making adverts which make people want their product? Is a chocolate advert horrible for saying you should be eating chocolate instead of fruit? Maybe the kids could go and have a day in nature next week, that day they went to toys r us and had a whale of a time

To be fair, I'm an adult and I'd rather go to Toys R Us than walk around the countryside.

I'm trying very hard to see what's horrible about the advert, since when was seeing happy children horrible? I can still remember being a child even if it was tens of decades ago and I would have loved to have been let loose in a toy shop.

    Yeah,me too.

My reaction to the advert is "Meh" to be honest.

Come on, is anyone really THAT surprised that a bus load of kids would prefer an impromptu trip to a toy shop than a trip to a nature reserve?!?!?

Come on, what child wouldn't be thrilled by that? :D I'm a grown up but if anyone offered that to me right now instead of looking at a bunch of trees in the freezing cold, I'd jump at it! And I'm pretty fond of trees :D

It's not as bad as the M&M online clothing store that sponsors The Simpsons on channel 4. Grown up children sat at their laptops shouting "MURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRM can I have this top?" And mum pops her head round the door and says "oh go on then"... If they were my kids I'd tell them to get a f***ing job and buy it themselves.
