I'm shocked, shocked at the depths some people will go to.

But the fake poster does have a point (ouch) or two to make.

Usual cobblers from labours drones, the Tories are ringfencing NHS spending, Labour are planning cuts.

Love it! Although other posters are right that both parties will have to cut the NHS it's only the Tories who are claiming they won't.

Are we going to have this claim and counter claim over posters for the next month. There will be plenty of spoofs on both sides - some pushing the limit.

Its a valid point though - the Tories have said they won't make cuts in the NHS. But they are being dishonest - as you can't cut the deficit while ring fencing one of the largest spend areas.

The Conservative manifesto is about maintaining healthcare spending, that's a very different thing from NOT cutting the NHS.

The NHS is a roadway to healthcare. It ensures that personal wealth is irelevant and clinical need is the only criteria as to treatment.

The NHS is a concept of fairness in medicine.

The Conservatives wish to end that fairness and introduce a "survival of the richest" approach as in the USA.

The truth is that whoever is in power drastic cuts to government spending will have to be made of the order of 20-25% over the next few years in order to get that deficit down.

The Canadian Liberals had to do this a decade or so ago. They did put the economy to rights but all that pain meant that they were booted out of office in 2006 by the electorate.

This forthcoming election is therefore a bit of a poisoned chalice for the victor. The ruling party will have to make savage cuts and then they'll be punished for it at the ballot box.

If Labour win in 2010 then they'll suffer a very heavy defeat in 2015 and if the Tories win they'll probably be thrown back out of office in 2015.

Your post makes uncomfortable reading, as it is accurate and I sincerely hope does not truly indicate the way the electorate will react.

I say this as listening to Radio 4's MoneyBox programme today revealed that NHS spending has been rising by 6% per annum throughout the Labour 13 years and is clearly unsustainable.

This didn't happen to the Tories in 1983 - and we had rioting in the streets in their first term. They won by a landslide.

You can cut spending on healthcare and have the healthcare decisions STILL made by democratically controlled bodies.

Or you can cut spending on healthcare and have the healthcare decisions made by private companies.

The Conservatives wish to privatise the decision-making process as to who gets what.

The NHS is a fair system. The Conservatives wish to get rid of that fair system.

Don't like the poster at all. I get the point they're trying to make etc, but to do it in Freddie Kruger style is just most unpleasant.

With respect, we shall have never seen such deep and savage cuts to frontline services in the modern era therefore that comparison is wholly invalid. The electorate really will start howling when the cuts start to bite.

That is why in that chancellor's debate a few days ago none of the candidates spelled out just how bad things would really get. Telling the truth, regrettably, would put the voters right off.

So far, it's only been Nick Clegg who's pointed this out (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/sep/18/nick-clegg-liberal-democrats-spending) and he's had to shut up otherwise he'll drive away support for the Liberal Democrats.

I agree, the message is there but the picture is inappropriate.

Its just a shame that Tommy Sheridan is not as well known in England as he is in Scotland as I'm sure in time he would have made a great PM
