help re an 80s/90s sci fi supernatural type series??

I'm trying to remember the name an USA x files/buffy type show about a team of investigators looking into paranormal, psychic or more likely supernatural mysteries.

Can't really remember that much except it was a new story every week although there may have been an ongoing conspiracy theory story arc too - they were a team of varying ages and sexes though I don't think all the characters featured every week, I think it was shown on channel 5 when that first started. It may have been set around a school or college

I've tried googling but that just seems to thow up so many options I can't seem to track it down!
