Any ideas what's up with it? It's the latest model but won't switch on anymore?

No much information to go on!

I suspect it may not be charging. Check your charger and lead on another device and then try charging the iPod.

I tried two different leads no joy. It did it a few weeks ago and eventually powered on but incentives the battery ran out its never came back on. Tried a hard reset and no luck either.

Two different leads on the same charger?

A charging fault is the most likely cause.

    How will I fix this?

Does the lead plug into the charger on a bog standard USB plug? If so then you can try anything with a USB socket, even a PC. Not 100% guaranteed to work and may take longer than the Apple charger but might indicate if the problem is with the charger or not.
