BBC to offer paid digital ownership

BBC Trust approves proposals for BBC Store:
BBC Store will allow users to buy new programmes and a selection of content from the BBC archives, on a download-to-own basis. BBC Worldwide, the BBC's commercial arm, will establish and run the service. BBC Store is distinct from BBC iPlayer, which will remain a free catch-up service funded by the licence fee.

i think it is a great idea as people also like copies of programmes on their i pads/tabtlets i pods etc. i would pay if it has programmes on there that you can't get on itunes like classic comedies such as allo allo, hi-de-hi etc and made some of the old bbc drama's that may not be on itunes as well.

Bump... So if you were able to choose any programme shown by the BBC which isn't available anywhere else, what would it be?

Quite an interesting discussion over on the Amazon Forum about series people would like the BBC to release on disc.
