Thank you Annette & Waj_100 . I cannot wait to see your new shots with the tubes Annette. I have let my Dad borrow my 55-250 II, as he was kind enough to let me borrow his 70-300 IS for an extended period, so will hopefully be going to Colchester Zoo next week and purchase their yearly pass for the current price of £25 for disabled visitors, which imho is well worth the money as it also includes 1-2 free entries to other zoos around the country, should I ever be near them .
My car club paid a visit to Brooklands at the weekend, and I managed to get some nice shots. After much negotiating, we even got access to the famous banked section of the track for some pictures.
I feel somewhat lost as my camera was stolen/misplaced a few weeks back in London. Aside from losing photos from a big reunion event I'd attended that day with old school friends, I now have no camera to work with. I'm hoping to invest in an affordable DSLR in the new year though
For anyone whose interested in a random selection of photography I've added some random favourites of mine to my Flickr, as well as some recent ones taken in summer. They're also on Tumblr depending on people's preferred format
Female mute swan, judging by the the size of the bump (knob) on the top of the beak. She hissed at me as well when I got a little bit too close, even though I was feeding her with bread.
Adults of this large swan typically range from 140 to 160 cm (55 to 63 in) long, although can range in extreme cases from 125 to 170 cm (49 to 67 in), with a 200 to 240 cm (79 to 94 in) wingspan.[4][12] Males are larger than females and have a larger knob on their bill. On average, this is the second largest waterfowl species after the trumpeter swan, although male mute swans can easily match or even exceed a male trumpeter in mass.[4][13] Among standard measurements of the mute swan, the wing chord measures 53–62.3 cm (20.9–24.5 in), the tarsus is 10–11.8 cm (3.9–4.6 in) and the bill is 6.9–9 cm (2.7–3.5 in).[4]
Tried to get some milky way shots but the night clouded over and kind of spoiled that. I did, however notice a strange flash on one of the images. First thought was a shooting star but the persistence after the flash makes me think maybe not. Not a plane, that's usually a completely different visual.
Date 14/09//2014 time was 21.15 cet direction south. 20 second exposures F3.5 18mm ISO 1600.

Anyone confirm either way?
Looks like a shooting star....can't think of anything else.
As for the criteria, all that they ask for is evidence of your benefit as not all disabilities are visible. The other zoos that you can use the pass at are :

Thank you
The Manchester Airport photos are from the viewing area and from the side of runway 2. The A380, Dreamliner and a couple of others were from the side of runway 2.
You can get to the side of runway 2 by going one junction past the airport junction and then go past the Viewing area turn off, drive through the runway tunnels and turn left just after the second tunnel....park up and walk through the park and up the hill to the unofficial viewing area that folks like me use.
I haven't taken any photos from the Pub yet, but my son visits there a lot.
