Where has the new upstairs living area appeared from in the Rovers Return?

Who else has noticed the vast kitchenette/lounge diner that has appeared from nowhere upstairs in the Rover's return. There have never been more than three bedrooms at the Rovers, occupied now by Liz, Ryan and Steve/Michelle. This was the same in Annie Walker's day when Lucille was living in the Rovers. She once bragged to Nellie Harvey: "Being an hotelier - because of course we do have the one spare room upstairs - is more of a profession". So Annie, Lucille, spare room = three bedrooms. And under Bet's reign, Bet, Raquel and Vicki lived there, again presumably one to a room so where oh where did the extra space come from? Especially when the huge select bar disappeared downstairs during Bet's reign as landlady after the 1987 fire.
And whose idea was it to redecorate the bar and the hall and stairs so soon after Vernon had done it, considering before that it had not had a refit since 1987 after the fire. Not to mention that the redecoration took place between Liam's death and his funeral, when one might have thought wallpaper was the last thing on Steve and Michelle's minds.
Poor continuity Corrie!!
