This is a fan site for the original Upstairs Downstairs but it also features a section on the new 3 part series that will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC HD on 26th, 27th and 28th December, at 9 pm.

US viewers will have to wait till mid-April to see them.

I find this site to be invaluable to any fan of the show. Just scroll down to the first box on the left for the 2010 information which contains pictures and links.

Here is a link to the BBC website where you will also find the presspack for the new series, it of course contains much information including episode synopsis and spoilers !

I wonder whether this might spark an idea to keep it going as a dramatic social history of 165 Eaton Place through the century.

The new series in the 30s, next year into WW2 etc.

When the Bellamy's sold it in 1930 the suggestion was properties of that kind were being bought up and converted into flats. That could be part of a post WW2 storyline. Could end up with 4 families living there.

Why only 3 parts? Hardly worth bothering!

It the current trend with anything that is good to only do a short season that is over before it starts.

Nothing like American series with there 26 parters.

Must be cost cutting: Do 3 and if people scream loud enough they will do a massive 6 parts next time.

"US viewers will have to wait till mid-April to see them."

Result! That will make a nice change for them to have to grab our torrents for a change and post at UK pace. :D

Good quality is better than poor quantity.

It's rare that American TV gets both (The West Wing, Frasier, few others.....)

There was a very interesting piece about the new series on BBC Breakfast this morning - looks very good.I'm sure the original three programmes will rapidly expand if it's successful.

British TV series have always been short. It's hardly a new thing.

Yes I agree to a certain extent, but we produce a fair amount of complete crap as well!

But good things like Being Human and Mitfits are far to short.

It's only just started, and it's not the same period :confused::confused:

Getting the ball rolling early I see .

Don't see why some DA fans are so against this as for one, UD came first, and two, surely people can enjoy both as I intend too. Critics have even said it's perfect from those suffering from Downton Abbey withdrawal :D.

Looks like the same interior as the old house from the original series.

1935 I believe : it's not a remake of the series but a continuation of the story several years on.

Same house but different family. And yes, several years later.

Wonder if there'll be any references to Hudson, Mrs Bridges, Rose, etc

Well Rose is an actual character in this one : the only one who appears in both shows from what we can see.

This will be brilliant if made into a longer series - going through WW2 and beyond....
