Asda have felt the need to drop the Wii U price even lower to just £149.

yep, they have ported a load of games to the wii u that people already own on there existing consoles, do they expect people to buy the same games a second time? The hardware is not even next gen, PS4 and next gen Xbox will blow it out of the water when it comes to hardware, just looks like a console that is doomed to failure to me, at least the gamecube had metroid prime, what does wii u have, that silly zombie game...
At £149 it is rather tempting, but I wonder how long it will be before we see a £99 figure.
Yeah, even at £14.99 it's useless until some decent exclusive games come out
At £14.99 I'll definitely be picking one up
Although £149 is tempting but like people have said they need some decent exclusives and I don't want more Mario games. They need a decent exclusive like Uncharted for PS3. If they had a proper massive Pokemon game I would definetely be getting one though. So hopefully Nintendo read this thread and get Gamefreak on it
Just plug in a hard drive.
You'd probably have to do the same with the 32Gb version eventually, anyway. That 25Gb of useable space won't go far, either.
Still a no from me .... I mean look at their selection of games.
Nintendo Land - an interesting diversion, but that's it.
Batman AC - already have it on PS3.
Rabbits Land - meh, 5/10, wouldn't touch it.
Call Of Duty : Black Ops 2 - already have it on 360.
FIFA 13 - worse than other versions.
Your Shape - I'll stick to the gym, thanks.
Sports Connection - a 3/10 game? Hell no!
Just Dance 4 - I'm not a 9 year old girl.
Now, I know there are more games out there, but...... Is that really all Asda are stocking? Slashing prices plus limited stockholding? I'd say it looks like Asda might be the first big retailer to drop the Wii U completely.
Asda r just trying 2 get rid of old stock online ... They haven't had any on the actual shelves for months ... Same goes for morrisons.
(I think the wiiu is a fantastic system but its pretty much dead in the uk)
Nintendo dropped the ball on this big time. It could be the last console they make, and maybe it should be.
Nintendo are also kind of ridiculous when it comes to their own games as well. Mario adventure titles such as Mario Galaxy and 64 rarely get made (Normally only 1 per console). Same goes for Donkey Kong County and Zelda. Instead they waste time with things like Mario Olympics Mario Golf. People want adventure titles with a story to them.
I skipped the Gamecube, but loved the Dreamcast. Still use mine.
I like the look of the Wii U, but several "enhanced" versions of Xbox/PS3 games and Mario isn't getting me at any price at the moment.
The dreamcast was amazing I was talking from a financial prospective.
Yet again, Nintendo rely too much on main core Mario and Zelda titles. Even, Metriod which is just as good, doesn't get nearly the same market exposure. (probably, because it wasn't created by Mr. Miyamoto!) But things like Wii Fit and Wii Sports were successes, much as I don't appreciate it. On the handheld front, Nintendogs and Brain Training were big hits too!
But hopefully the era of 'casual' hits is over.
Nintendo thought it could extend the ‘casual’ crowd that bought into the original wii with things like Nintendoland and Game & Wario. But it’s not doing the trick, and now seems like a waste of resources, in which they could have spent building more ‘core’ titles.
oh boy, but at least there's a new Xenoblade, The Wonderful 101s and Bayonetta 2 coming soon....
As for the high street, they have 2 new consoles coming in as little as 5 months, which are going to need shelf space in stores.
At the current sales rate, they'll be lucky to shift 1 million console worldwide by the time the next-gen kicks off.
I wonder where that shelf space will come from?
It seems to me that the Wii U was released before it was ready, like Nintendo found out the next gen playstation and xbox were coming out real soon and panicked, they put it out there ahead of schedule because they knew the other systems would blow it out of the water if released at the same time or after. The problem was they only had a handful of games ready so they went with there begging bowl to various developers and persuaded them to port games from other systems onto this one so that customers actually had something to play on it. You cannot even watch movies on it, no blu-ray drive or dvd player, that is ridiculous...
I don't buy Nintedo consoles because I don't like many of their games, so even at £149 I am not in the slightest tempted. Even at £49 I don't think I would.
If Nintendo were to get a Pokemon game like you described onto the Wii U though, I would quite happily buy one at the current price point. I would be so happy if this were ever to come true but it's not going to happen. Pokemon games have been around for well over a decade.
No Blu Ray or DVD is purely down to not wanting to pay the licensing costs.
I still think the choice of name was the worst thing nintendo could have done.
Yeah I can't see it ever happening but all I want id Final Fantasy 7 to get remade and a proper big Pokemon game for consoles that spans most regions however I feel neither will come to fruition unfortunately so I will have to make do with what does come out and probably steer clear of the Wii U.
It is time Nintendo got out of the hardware game and do what Sega are doing now.
They kind of have nowhere to go after this disaster.
One wonders if Nintendo even bothered to do research before releasing this console, which most think is just an add accessory for the original Wii
I am not even sure how Nintendo fans can defend this machine.
Nintendo didn't even drop the price, the retailers did.
Basically, Nintendo have done nothing.
IMHO sega seemed to make the better, more innovative games whilst nintendo always seem to be regurgitating the same games on every new system they release.
If wii u drops to under £100 I would probably buy one as a collector but I certainly wont pay over that amount
