Well, so far I'm not sure he quite works as a chat show host (early days, admittedly). He needs to step back from his comedy act/persona and interact a bit more naturally. He seems to be constantly angling for the next laugh.
what was the point of TW being there? was there an interview? chat? no, just MM fawning all over him and playing that stupid music thing every other minute. .. not looking good.
For me, the chat show format has had its day. There are very few people still around worth interviewing - just an endless queue of the bland and the boring with something to flog. Anybody with anything valid or interesting to say steers very well clear.
I watched some re-runs of Parkinson interviews from the 70s with stars of the time like Tony Curtis, Orson Welles and James Stewart. Thought-provoking television, brilliantly executed by the interviewer, with not a plug or a product placement to be seen or heard.
For what it's worth, I watched some of McIntyre's show this evening and I am afraid it only strongly reinforced all of the above.

i agree its bad on HD.
I hope Sir Terry keeps his legs together...
When has the statement "We are screaming out for another chat show" ever been said by anyone?
No I think he's brilliant
Like it would take a few minutes to actually read the texts and work out what he was going to do.Cut...Edit..
On tv that would eat up a years worth of material.:D..hence the filler guests.
