Seems like Digital Spy is not the only site regenerating today!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/

:D

(The World Cup site is being launched at http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldcup either tonight or tomorrow)

Doesn't look much different at the moment, I guess they will change more of the site gradually

The current site is very messy and confused, it's true you can customise it but I'm really not into websites that much!

If there is to be a redesign then maybe it will address those issues of "too much going on".

Maybe you should try the customisation approach, and remove some of the areas which are of little interest to you. In so doing, it will become less busy.

I would have thought that customisation was a good thing .

News used to be higher up and the big changeable bit was on the right.

    It's not a major change.

Difficult question to answer given there is more than one facet to the website. The BBC news site was launched in November 1997, had a redesign in 2003, and another in 2008. So every five and a half years or so. Not sure if the whatever change was made in the past few days (I can't see much of a difference) counts.

Better they spend our money making the site more user friendly than, say, overseas chauffer bills for execs.

i think its just the homepage that has been tweaked, not the actual news pages.

you might want to take that up with Slow Motion, who stated that they update their site more often than DS do.

although its only been four years since DS revamped this site.

    sounds intriguing!

I think the best parts of the new homepage is the new header/navigation bar. I like that bit. Infact, I like the new homepage - it looks nice.

I like the new BBC Homepage, though it does remind be of PBS or some state broadcaster.

In terms of video walls, I do like the moving promo screen on thecw website.

But, the BBC's FIFA World Cup website currently looks slightly disappointing as it contains the old banner.

Good to see the BBC and DS realising the need to keep things fresh.

    Well done, both. :)

If you didn't notice a change to the BBC homepage, you already had the beta active.

None of my mobile browsers seem to like the BBC site as much as they liked the old one

It's all a bit ploddy for me, front page has gone very similar to Sky's style

lol, they've finally decided to use tabs. Looking at the slideshow, I see each section has it's own header... including one for Science and Environmment. Oops!

    Spelling errors aside...

Quite like the look of the new site. Should be interesting to see it in the flesh.

    Good work BBC.

Just news, not sport yet, think they wanted to get the world cup well out of the way first, before changing sport.

Let's hope they update their search engine. Have you ever tried searching for anything using the BBC site's propietary search function? It's a bloody nightmare and makes searching YouTube seem simple.
