i loved her first album and adored the spice girls. i haven't really appreciated her music since then, to be honest. however, she was without a doubt the most talented member of that group.
i was also pleased that she had a successful stint in the west end. i have to say, i love the cover to her new album! i will definitely get it, even though i`m not fussed on the single.
it is a good idea to set up this thread. there were posts that were out of order and not constructive in the other threads!
I'm probably in the minority among her fans in that I wasn't a huge Spice Girls fan. I liked some of their songs but didn't follow them that closely.
I bought her first solo album because I was really into William Orbit's work with Madonna and wanted to get everything he worked on. Since then, I became a huge Melanie fan.
My favourite records by her were her first of course but also Beautiful Intentions, her rock influenced record. Her other records have a few good songs, but overall they aren't as good.
So far I love everything I've heard from the Sea including the single Think About it.
One thing I like about her is she's one of the pop singers out there who doesn't go too electronic and still uses a lot of live instruments and puts real heart into her songs. One of my pet peeves about pop music today is that everything has become so electronic and programmed that it takes the heart and human element out of music. Thank God Melanie's music isn't like that.
well what can i say firstly when the spice girls first appered one night in 96 on top of the pops i was focused onto melanie c then when she did her first solo album that was it for me since northern star her first album ive been very close to melanie c's music love it the only album of mels i wasnt really into was this time her 4th studio album i loved her 3rd album beautiful intentions that did show off mels voice an style
im blown away with mels latist album which in the uk we can download from this sunday the 4th sept this new album is well i can say fantastic its dramatic it feels very northen star and over the last couple of weeks ive found people who arnt into mel have been saying oh i like this
thats great news for mel an shes very popular in europe shes 1 on there download chart
i hope this album really brings mel back into ipods/mp3 players hifi's an car stereos
track 1 well its got a huge build up then its a tune you would listern to why watching a storm over a bay at night as the waves crash on the rocks then the album goes from strong hard hitting ballards to dance tunes to very radio friendly tunes an ive heard abit of the massive track that ends the album an mel really treats us with a very powerful ballard that lasts 8 mins long it really does close the album in a big way
melanie ive always followed you an supported you ive rocked out at your gigs an ive got all your stuff an mel this new album does not dissapoint
I love it when they are talking about twitter and she says it's very easy to say terrible things on your Blackberry or Iphone, but come here and say it to me face! She makes me laugh so much!

all about you
Melanie was on BBC2 the other day, and she was asked to cover a song from the Great British Songbook. I couldn't believe what she chose. She chose Do You Really Want to Hurt Me by Culture Club! Growing up I used to be a huge CC fan. In recent years, Boy George has really turned me off for a lot of reasons not the least of which his voice isn't very good anymore. So I hadn't listened to their music in years.
So it was wonderful to hear a song I used to love again in a new way. So thanks to Melanie for that!
I'm going to see her live tomorrow. I've actually not been going to her website or the Spice Girls forum because I want to be surprised by the set list.
That's one problem with the Internet, it takes away some of the magic of the live concert experience because people can find out the setlist and every thing about the concert before hand.
Melanie now has a DVD out of the tour last year. It also has one previously unreleased track called Too Soon.
She is also doing another tour. It was in Manchester last night. She is adding some different songs to the set such as Beautiful Intentions and a B side called Fragile. She is also doing the new song Too Soon which sounds amazing.
I went to the Liverpool show in December 2011 and Birmingham on Friday, and I have to say she really is on top of her game, she is sounding fantastic, and has great vocald and stage presence!
All the people who havent heard The Sea yet should really give it a try, its a great album. I have read lots of positive reviews in the press over the weekend aswell (Daily Star etc), who all say the same thing about the tour and album.
Give the show a try. The band and Melanie are incredible.
Im also going to the Brighton show on Wednesday, cant wait, and as it is where most of the album was made, it should be a very personal show for Melanie and great for us fans.
BTW the DVD is a great keepsake from the tour and I love the new track Too Soon
I am pleased to report that Melanie's duet with Matt Cardle, Loving You, is my favourite song of 2013! She did feature on my no 2 fave song of 1997 Who Do You Think You Are? as a Spice Girl, but 16 years later she has finally gone all the way!
So, a truly welcome comeback for a truly talented singer.
I did see Melanie on Jools Holland last night. It was good fun when she sang Stevie Wonder's I Wish as it is so funky, and one of my favourites of his. It was a bit daft though early on when she sang the lyric "Looking back on when I was a little nappy headed boy"! Admittedly "....girl" would not have rhymed with the following line ending "....toy".
They did get it realistic later when the backing singers sang "You nasty girl".

I agree that it would be highly appropriate and topical to see her on tv last thing this year!
"never be the same again" is still a tune in 2014.;-)
They did get it realistic later when the backing singers sang "You nasty girl".
