I need to raise awareness of the "sport" of shooting migrating bids from North Africa to Europe (many to the UK)), Chris Packham is due out there soon to literally stand in front of the shooters to help prevent this awful crime against our favourite songbirds and raptors.

Please don't book that holiday to Malta.

Why would the Maltese want to do anything so pointless and twisted?

Hate to say it happens all over the Med. Know they do it in Italy/Greece/Cyprus etc as its free food not that the woman who has to prepare the poor things by the dozen to make a decent meal out of them has any choice when theres 40+ dumped on the table

It's a dreadful practice and it's been going on for many, many years.

It's not just Malta either; many Mediterranean countries do it as well.

Edit: beaten to it. France used participate as well but I'm not sure whether they still do.

It always surprises me that so many European countries are like something out of the Third World, but they are.

When it was just a few farmers supplimenting their diet it wasn't a problem. But as human populations increase the bird numbers can't be sustained so something will need to be done. Probably strict licencing like other hunting.

At least they eat them, always shocked by people in this Country who kill the pitiful number of birds of prey we have so some toffs can blast a pheasant. I hate seeing birds in tiny cages more, my Nan had a budgie but she let it fly around the living room and it seemed happy, little songbirds that you are used to seeing flying free though.
