I also want to add my tuppence worth as to how good this show is. I've only started watching it recently and I don't know how I've survived without seeing it before. And William Shatner is an absolute hoot I'll have to invest in the DVDs now and catch up on everything I've missed.
we've been wathing BL from when it started on Living. The cast must praise the showbiz gods when they read the scripts - what a great ensemble cast: Long suffering Rene A, Bill "I'm Denny Crane" Shatner and Spaders plotlines & Alan's relationship with Denny is sublime.
Also, the first time for a long time when I see Shatner onscreen and think - he's Denny Crane, rather than he WAS Captain Kirk!
I've just caught on to this this season after my OH kept going on about it. I love it. My favourite running theme at the moment is the Denny Crane/midget lawyer - she is brilliant - the few scenes where she was (unbeknown to Denny) stood in between them were hilarious. I was quite sad the other night when she turned up at the Christmas party and then left again.

Totally agree. Any show with a cast like Shatner, Spader, Rene A (very underrated actor in my book) and the sublime Candice Bergen has got to be worth a look. I envy you DavyPaul and the fact you've been watching it since the start and am totally kicking myself at missing so much of it. DVDs here I come

I loved it when Denny said something he shouldn't and Alan told him to look down and there she was!
I thought the Christmas party was sad too, she looked devastated. One things for sure - her mother is definitely a predatory female!
One of the two best shows on at the moment, by a mile (the other is House). I'm surprised not to have seen a thread on it before now. We've been watching since the first episode and never missed one.
We've even watched "season zero", never shown in the UK - otherwise known as The Practice, season 8. First and only time I've downloaded an entire season of something.
So, with all the high praises I've read about BL on Amazon and on here I had to give in buy BL. Bear in mind I had never watched a single episode. I have to say after about 10 episodes, I think this show is HILARIOUS. I never knew that William Shattner could be so funny. I've laiughed out loud so many times and that, for me, is a good sign that something is funny.
To be honest with you, I think it's better than Ally McBeal!
The increasing man love between Denny and Alan is making me very confused............errr, no (adopts pub Landlord persona) I was never confused .......I was NEVER confused

Just to confirm the general feeling here. BL is a terrific show, one of the best things on TV, and why it's not been picked up by a major channel is a puzzle to me.
Not sure if I'm supposed to mention it, but there's a great fansite for the show at boston-legal.org, but be careful of spoilers - they're on ep. 20 now!
I was a bit annoyed that some of the actors changed as well (I really like Rhona Mitra) but I understand why they do it, it would be pretty strange not to have new faces in a law firm, it makes perfect sence.
the best bits are the small hidden extras- like the one when Denny and Alan are sitting on the balcony and Dennys mobile goes off- the ring tone is the old communicatoor noise from Star Trek- the look on their faces is priceless- almost like they werent expecting it

They specialise in 'breaking through the fourth wall'. The one I remember was when Alan walked onto the balcony and said to Denny "Oh there you are - I've hardly seen you at all this episode." :-)

I think the best was when Jeffrey Coho and Claire turned up...
Denny: Oh please, if there were new guys they would have shown up in the season premiere
AND
Denny: Welcome, to Boston Legal.
Claire: Jeffrey, the gross man is fondling me.
Denny: It's the official firm greeting.
(squeezes Claire's butt)
Denny: Cue the music

That was a great show opener wasn't it? All the little oddities of BL make it stand out from the crowd and turn it into something special.
I didn't like the pilot episode but Living's constant plugs made it hard to avoid and I'm glad I stuck with it, bought the DVD's and can walk around shouting Denny Crane and everyone thinking I'm completely insane
They seem to have dropped his 'Mad Cow' thing from the last 2 seasons...though he did mention Mad last night

I agree - he is Denny Crane, I don't even think about Captain Kirk when I see him on screen, now that really is an achievement!

Two words before I go....

*Thinks of the advantages of friends with benefits!!*
Only slightly confused matt?

I was gutted to see it was one of these shows with the camera wobbling around all over the place and it just ruined it. I couldn't watch it.
It pisses me off mightily. WHY!?!
without Denny and Alan it would be a totally rubbish show.
I do get annoyed they change the actors around so much from series to series.
Lake Bell got sacked went to Surface then suddenly popped up again for a few episodes lately.
Did anyone ever see Alan when in was in the Practice?
I know that is where the character first appeared?

I love that stuff too!

Classic line (on New Orleans)
