Flickering home screen?

Hi,
Since I got my ps3 the home screen flickers quite a lot, but it is perfectly fine when playing games and watching Netflix/Lovefilm.
It does flicker ocassionally when I'm watching Blurays too.
The HDMI cable is sturdy and well made (not cheap!) and it worked perfectly in my bluray player so I'm not sure if it is that?
Any ideas?
