What live blog are you guys gonna be using for the event?

I will probably flick between -
    MacRumors
    Engadget
    gdgt
    Ars Technica

engadget for me, but that depends on how well it copes with the traffic.

www.9to5mac.com is also a good site that plans to run a live blog.

My iphone contract runs out in july, due an upgrade july 7th, currently on £35 contract, hoping they'll give me a good deal on this new one, quite excited,

i know a mate who works in an o2 shop and knows nothing about this new phone, they think it's coming out next year, i doubt that many people outside of the 02 offices knows whats happening

I am in the exact same position as you – got a 3GS a week before Christmas!

Rumour has it that the main carrier in the states is bringing forward the eligible upgrade dates providing users sign to a new 2 year contract and pay an $18 dollar fee.

I believe the phone will also cost too.

For orange to do something like that would be nice but even if they did I don’t think allowing an iPhone upgrade after six months would be the first to get an early upgrade!

Bugger – I will just wait for the 5th gen then!

    Same here!

Although my problem is i bought mine in January on o2 pay as you go, and then got them to unlock it for me so i can use with my current contract.

So even if i could get a 4G, i doubt very much they'd unlock it for me anytime soon!

In all honesty, the only pulling power the 4G has is the fact that the new OS allows multiple apps running at the same time. But i've gotten used to only doing one thing at a time...

    Will wait for the 5G!

As much as I am sure the new iPhone will be a very good device I will be more than happy keeping my 32gb 3GS, the only things the '4G' are rumored to offer is multiple exchange accounts and multi tasking, both of which the 3GS will get with the new software update so happy times!

So is the new 4.0 OS update likely to work on the 3GS models then?

Well the new iPhone hasn't even been announced yet whereas OS 4.0 has so it's safe to assume it'll be for the current iPhones (or at least the 3GS).

We might even be available to download tonight if we're lucky.

OS 4 WILL work fully with the 3GS, basic 3G owners not so lucky though as they will be getting a stripped down version of OS 4 (no multitasking for 3G owners)

Now that it has been officiall annouced at that major retailers will be providing it on the majority of the networks, I am wondering as I got my 3GS from Phones 4u. Would I be able to take advantage of their cashback offer of £180 & put that towards the 4G ?

I'm surprised that no-one has posted anything about the official reveal...

    http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/features.html

    http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/specs.html

    iPhone 4

    16GB or 32GB (no 64GB!)

    960x640 "Retina" display

5MP camera on the rear, with LED Flash

    Front-facing camera

    HD video recording & editing

    "FaceTime" video calling over WiFi.

    Gyroscope

1GHz Apple "A4" (same as used in the iPad)

Multitasking & all the other iOS4 stuff

iBooks & iMovie are coming for the iPhone.

    etc....

Launches in the UK (& US a few other places) on the 24th June.

    Launches ROW in July/August.

US prices = $199/$299 for 16GB/32GB with a 2 year contract (= the same as for the 3GS).

So can anyone give me a ball park figure as to what you'd be looking to pay for a brand new model, say 6 months into it's shelf life?

Due an upgrade in November and would prefer the new model...but wouldn't want to have to pay hundreds!

Currently on a £35 a month contract with o2 if that helps. Just aksing from past experience, i.e. how much was the 3GS when it first came out.

To give an example when the wife upgraded to iphone 16gb 3gs , she was on a £35 contract with VF and the phone was £89 as an initial payment plus the £35 pm month

Expect a similar price in Nov for the 3gs or more for the new HD version

but its all guesswork for now

Video Calling "FaceTime" feature is totally pointless. It's basically a handheld version of a webcam :S you can only use it over Wi-Fi to call someone else who has a iPhone 4 aswell

Or an iPhone 5 or an iPhone 6 or an iPhone 7 etc etc.

The word 'devices' was specifically used - that is plural, suggesting that other new devices will use FaceTime.

Absolutely fantastic phone. Ultra thin, feature packed - and of course the app store v

now with a five mega pixel camera with 720p video recording and

a screen so densly populated with pixels, the human eye couldn't see it any clearer even if the screen had even more pixels!

I am due an upgrade on the 13th of June, was struggling to find a reason to leave Blackberry, the battery life of this though makes it very tempting.
