Yep today is the day folks!! I hear that the theme for the opening ceremony is scienitific enlightment? Newton & co?! Also note that unlike with the Olympics, the opening ceremony is Day 1. So Thursday is Day 2 thread starters!!

    how is the opening ceremony day 1? there aren't any actual competitive events today as far as I know.

    I don't know. But the BBC says it is on my link. Perhaps someone else knows better...?

    I can tell it is a low build-up when the torch relay isn't on anywhere apart from the London 2012 web-site;)

    I am looking forward to it but it is no way near on the same level as the hours before the Olympics build up, no matter how the press spin-it.

    I can't help feel if the BBC had paid more for the rights it would be on a bigger level because they'd be shoving it down our throats every second possible.

    See the 3 extra channels are on sky, but the video 'watch now' or other introductory videos are not working on the C4 website on firefox/chrome on win7

    One thing I'm wondering is how often C4 will go to breaks during the ceremony and what we'll be missing during it as a result.

    Thanks for that. Are the extra channels playing the Elbow tune continuously like the BBC ones did?

    There is continuous music playing, not sure what it is, it certainly is not the orchestral one that the bbc played

    Yep, some of it includes a celebration of Britain's influence on all the science breakthroughs in the 17th century - Isaac Newton and co.
