Fat/toxins leaves the body through your urine, so if you are exercising and eating healthily you must drink around 3 litres of water a day (an absolute minimum of 2 litres) to ensure your body has enough fluid to get the fat out through your urine.
I find that filling a 2 litre bottle with water in the morning and drinking from that (I put the water in the fridge so its lovely and cold) helps keep my water consumption in good stead. I am more often than not filling the bottle again by lunchtime, and finish the 4 litres by bedtime.
Not only does it shift fat but it also improves your skin elasticity so helps your skin spring back rather than sag (and makes it look generally healthier).
Also, if you are losing inches but not weight it doesn't really matter, as you will be gaining muscle tone (muscle weighs more than fat) so you are losing fat but gaining muscle- which is a brilliant thing. If you look good then feel good, ignore what the scales say as the tape measure is the best rule sometimes.
I've not given an update in a while - I'm back fully in my size 12's and have been for a couple of weeks , weight is still going down but to be honest I'm happy if it stops as this is the lowest I've weighed in a long time. Longterm it would be great to be a size 10 like when I was in my early twenties, but as I'm a decade older achieving that isn't the most important thing to me anymore as I have other things that need my energy.
I've been eating properly, exercising at least 3 times a week for 20 minutes.... trying to lose weight is just one of many things stressing me out lately though so I might relax about it for a couple of weeks but keep up the exercise to make me feel as though I am actually doing something. We shall see.
my diet is just going nowhere now, and not losing any weight
Sunday i was eating from boredom, and feel i am now struggling
weighed on Monday and put 2lb back on
weighed this morning and lost 1lb
im being careful of calories etc, but Sunday i dive bombed
still keeping it going but i cant seem to get past certain weight ...its goes up and down
Rant over
Drink more water, also, it could very well be down to hormones.
Is it nearing 'that time'? I can easily gain at least half a stone around time of month, then it drops straight back off again (plus extra), then its back to normal loss until the best time.
How did you get started again last time you stalled ?
I'm not entirely sure actually, I seem to try all sorts. I think I may need to up my food intake a little, and see if that kick starts things and I do know that I need to definitely up my water intake again. Looking at my food diary, I can already see typical colder weather patterns of eating slipping in - I always seem to snack more on bad food and have bigger meals during winter and often don't feel like exercising at all. That's something that definitely needs sorting out very soon!
My exercise is going well, on 20 min sessions this week, will move to 30 mins next week. Today I discoverd that I can do 10 push ups without my arms collapsing under me which is a vast improvement! Introduced running again, did 3 mins today with a 30 second rest/walk inbetween each minute. Will build that up gradually as last time I tried to run, I did it all wrong and could barely walk for 2 days.

Hi! Keep at it (I know that's not much from me who is in a similar position)
Have you tried measuring yourself? It may seem a bit silly but I measured hips, waist etc in January when I started and then when I measured again in June/July time I'd lost 3cm off my waist but had barely lost any weight. That was a big motivator for me as it was an achievement & a sign that my exercising (or something) was working.
Other than that, look at the foods you eat, your water/fluid intake, exercise, hormones etc... Good luck!
This is where we all have to get tough I think, we have all been doing this a while we know what works but some slips are happening as we are getting a bit complacent.
So we need to regroup and get ourselves back on track.
What were our goals when we started ? we are closer to them now than when we started so just need to get back in the right mind set to do it !
I hit a stone lost when I had my slimming world weigh in on Tuesday. Was pleased and only have 2ibs to go so was hoping to do that this week if I could be really good.....but I've been full of cold yesterday and today. Feeling really rubbish and off work so I've just eaten crap 😒. Fell guilty now and don't think I will hit my target 😢
Awww horrible when you eat because you are not feeling well. Still you have a reason so you will be fine next week and get that final 2lb off I am sure.
I'm really struggling for the last few weeks - I've been following the weight watchers plan & exercising but in the last 4 weeks I've lost, then gained , then lost & gained so in 4 weeks I've lost a pound - I've been under on the eating & exercise every day , but still put on a pound this week - anyone have any idea why - I now feel that if I stop dieting I'll be obese as I'm working so hard & still gaining weight I'm in trouble if I live like a normal human
I have a theory but I hasten to add it's just my ideas I haven't researched to see if there is any truth in it !
As we come into autumn our bodies start to hang onto calories trying to lay down fat for the winter (happens to animals so I reckon could happen to us too).
So all we need to do is eat as we have been and eventually all will come good and the weight will start coming off again. We just need to be patient and not lose hope or control of our eating.
I am new on here , I have lost a stone and a half in 7 weeks just by going to the gym for 5 days a week and burning between 500/750 cals a day . Am I losing it too fast tho as I am finding it so difficult to tone up all my lose skin ?
How are you guys doing that when you have lost 3/4 stone ?

Blimey well done on weight loss!
Re skin stretching, that's where the wonder of water comes in it improves your skins elasticity, so helps it spring back. If you don't drink enough water your skin isn't as flexible as it should be, which is another reason why its so important to drink plenty of water/fluids each day. Water straight is best, but if mixed with a no added sugar squash you'll also see the
benefits.
Also, do some muscle toning work as part of your workout and not just cardio (if you aren't already) as that will help. Also, Pilates is brilliant for toning up your stomach area, as well as all other areas of the body. Maybe speak to somebody who works at the gym and ask them for advice? If its just a chat it won't cost you anything and usually they usually love helping people who are really getting into it (its also an ego boost for many of them..)

Thank you for the help , all I drink is water as I dislike any of the fizzy drinks so this is good news as I don't have to change anything there . I have started to do some weights for the tops of my arms but as I am I girl I don't want to go to crazy

Don't worry about going crazy, you'd have to be lifting some seriously heavy weights to start going from toned feminine woman to masculine body builder type also, building muscle tone is a great calorie burner too, as your body continues to burn up calories for a long time after you stop (unlike cardio where the calorie burning stops fairly quickly after you finish).
There are some female DS members who I've seen swear by (light) weight lifting, so if you'd like more advice on that, ie what to do to not get the hulk look but still look lean and tones then maybe start a thread? As I'm sure they'd be happy to advise.
I don't know enough about it to help much more as I'd not want to give out incorrect advice. I only occasionally use weights as I get bored easily so switch about all the time, I am a bit of a jack of all trades when it comes to exercise types, rather than mastering one technique

Thank you again , I was not aware that it continued to burn up calories after you had stopped lifting
I am weigh 3 out of 4 weeks now, I know I go up on the week before my cycle so I just don't bother worrying myself with that week. By the following week I am back on track anyway.
My husband weighs every 10 days and finds that works for him.
I've got to start watching the scales go up, as am expecting my second child due next Spring
Although that said, my weight has been dropping the last few weeks from everywhere except my belly (which is already quite round and am happily back in comfortable maternity jeans )
I'll probably still lurk on here though and will be back in 2014. Am impressed I managed to not say anything in my last post on here, it was very tempting but decided to wait a bit longer.
Good luck everybody with your goals, wishing you all the best of success

Same thing has happened to me - don't give up, the fewer pounds you have to lose the harder it gets.
Maybe try eating well but stepping away from the scale for a while?
I feel better today and have lost a 1lb this morning so feel more motivated again
its just the last bit now, and seems to take ages, maybe i plateau again..
Just to clarify i'm a 5'7 Male, aged 19.
wow, well done
I aiming to get to 10st.4, anything lower will do..im overweight at 10st.5 lol ( i started off at around 13 half stone so im chuffed so far )
