Such a fortunate coincidence that it will be perfectly timed for the main 6 o'clock news.:)

Mandy is selecting my successor, I will resign in 6 to 12 months with the adulation of the nation ringing in my ears.

Mandy has said so, so it must be right.

The beauty of the rumour of Brown standing down after a period is that it prevents a Labour leadership election, so Mandy has control.

Why, he's done very well to stave off a Tory victory and Labour get a new leader that will more than likely greatly increase there chances of winning next time out

I don't mind Brown, but I should think for their chances, the Tories would want him to stay - his departure is another nail in Cameron's coffin.

Maybe he is about to make a statement on the BA strikes? That would be quite amusing.

I am going stand aside, a fresh leader is required to steer through negotiations with the Lib Dems, we will then put forward a electoral reform bill, referenda and another election under the new system in 6 months (because holding together a rainbow coaltion any longer under this system would be unrealistic)

Or something similiar if he has any sense.

    Haha :D Yes.

Imagine if we are all waiting with baited breath and he talks about something completely irrelevant to the party talks.

Formal talks with Lib Dems to begin with Labour - surely if Clegg was confident of striking a deal with the Tories he wouldn't bother with Labour.

I suggested this to my OH on Saturday, hopeful but not very serious. I'll be quite astounded if it actually happens.
