Hmmm...
Just found these set of stations, and found Play Top 40 very good, not heard one advert, and I haven't heard one presenter, they have a webcam, yet it just shows an empty studio with a microphone?
Anyone else listen?
Can anyone tell me about its background, and where its based?
Just seems to have sprung from nowhere!

We listen to them at work, and they have a pretty limited playlist, but the at least the adverts aren't distracting!
Plenty of choice from their varied musical stations, classic, rock, reggae, Top 40, etc... and I believe they've just split their main presenter station to Play 1 and Play 2 but not sure what the difference is.
But matt, you are a presenter on Playradio, so why do you ask?
200 odd posts and I dont even think *that* Matt reads DS

Hmmmm...does the show have anything to offer apart from the fact that Tommy Boyd isn't on it? I mean, I know that's a mark of quality, but is there any other reason for listening to it?
Ha, that made me laugh.
Yer, course 'cos theres only one Matt in the UK isn't there?
Mike Mendoza even has Fevzi Turkalp on his show (by ISDN line) with a technology hour, as was customary on TalkSport.
James Whale is good when he's got guests on, but apart from that I dont see anything special about him, comes across as a grumpy old man who talks down to people in a bad way.
PRUK has come along way recently like you said, just look at the list of names:
Iain Lee, James Whale, Tommy Boyd...
They're certainly putting there money where there mouth is!
Tommy Boyd is as good as he ever was it seems albeit to a tiny more intimate audience.
I like Play Radio & it's line up of industry professional presenters.
I listen to play via podcasts and enjoy them very much.

There doesn't appear to be too much info on 'em, though. Which is odd. And they've only been PLC'd since September of last year.
Still, I wish them the best of luck with Play. Their studios are gorgeous, they're putting out a great sounding product and they don't seem to be afraid to spend money on it. They really need to do more publicity, though.

The wiki entry is deleted which seems odd!
What's left says they are based at Ford in Sussex which is near Yapton!
There is an item here about internet radio by Play Radio UK network manager Marcus Quilter.

The NGW DAB bid had a radio Play (Quiz/Participation) suggestion from the large inde producer Somethin' else, but seems unrelated. http://radiotoday.co.uk/e107_plugins/wrap/wrap.php?13
Here are some links that give us a little background about David Reynolds who owns Play Radio UK.

Nice man.
Or investor perhaps.
Perhaps I'll need to upgrade my aerial to digital before I can pick up Play Radio UK(!)
On my little search for "Play TV UK" digital television and broadband internet providings, I've found the following:

There's probably plenty more.
What would be helpful for the radio stations is if they attempt to reassure listeners that they're actively distancing themselves from the associated operations.
Wow, this story gets more and more interesting!
