I was astonished to hear Ann Widdecombe on last nights Newsnight claim theres probably going to be a major breakthrough in alzheimers research soon and that this will elongate lifespan hugely(What does hugely mean-5 years-10 years ??) and contribute to a pensions crisis.

No internet research I have done has backed up this claim-very speculative claim presented as fact by Ann.She is not a scientist or expert in this field and I think its morally wrong of her to abuse her fame to falsely get peoples hopes up.

I was looking forward to seeing her on Strictly Come Dancing but at the minute I am just plain annoyed at her false/exagerated claims.

Where the hell has she got the info?............But folk will vote for her in the most awful silly dancing thingy!!!

I once opened my front door to find Ann Widdecombe on my doorstep, sheltering from the rain...

What, invite her back to mine for coffee?

No way! She was with her mother and I figured she would have cramped my style

Precisely repelled or pushed back NOT cured.I dont dispute people are living longer and this effects pensions but I dont like hype about cures or glib talk.

I'm not keen on talk about Ann Widdecombe's boobs, but I'll let it pass:D She knows didly squat more than anyone else apart from he research scientists. And I'm not surprised she's a virgin.

She's sixty odd; perky boobs are a thing of the past for women of that age, as a general rule.

I predict an imminent breakthrough in the problem of saggy boobs.

Ironic that she's recently signed up to a show hosted by Bruce Forsyth. A man that undoubtedly would have been dead for at least the last twenty-five years if it wasn't for the miracle of modern science.

Maybe our governments can publicise that much more, after all, it would put off Muslim terrorists knowing what those 72 virgins are gonna look like.

Saggy boobs are only a problem in ones mind.

I hope Ann curbs her flippancy and thinks before she raises hopes.

Doubtful ... she's suffered from foot in mouth disease for a long time.

I had to type that fast to get the thought out of my mind.

You'll have to sanitise your keyboard, and nuke your temp files too.

She's Catholic so I don't think she'll amongst the Islamic virgins.
There's bound to be more than one of similar build and looks in the 72 though.

This is true - scientists on R4 reported it yesterday morning. Great advances will be made in the near future.

She served as the Shadow Health secretary ten years ago. So I suppose it's not outside the realms of possibilities that she knows stuff that's not in the public domain.

It is in the public domain and has been in the news this week on radio and tv.
