We can exclusively reveal that James Roache, real-life son of William Roache (Ken), is set to return to the cobbles, following his introduction earlier in 2010.

James joined the show alongside his older brother Linus Roache, where they played father and son. Linus was cast as Lawrence, Ken's son he didn't know he had, until a lost letter from his ex-girlfriend Susan revealed the truth.

James played Lawence's son, also called James, who was in turn Ken's grandson. Unfortunately Ken found that Lawrence held strong homophobic views and clashed with James, who was gay.

In the story, Ken was shocked by Lawrence's opinions and tried to mediate between father and son, without great success.

Corrie have yet to reveal how James will return to the Street, but he is expected to begin filming in March 2011.

That's cool, I quite liked the character and it was cut a bit short.

Hopefully they won't bundle him up with Sean though. :/

It makes sense for Lawrence not to return, at least not yet, but James and Ken get on, so thats great :D

Well it'd be dumb to recast him after his one off appearance

yeah!! i really liked james, was dissapointed when they cut the storyline short, glad they are going back to it. Hope he doesn't bring his dad back with him.
Wonder if it is full time or another guest stint?

So next year we will have ...

Ken, Deirdre, Peter, Leanne, Simon, Tracy, Amy and James. The Barlow's are expanding well. They should recast Adam Barlow and Daniel and just complete the set for the first time?

At least he will be back, even though the whole long-lost son of Ken plot was contrived....and I hope he is not paired up with Sean!

Do we know he's back full time? The article does not mention if he is back full time.

Do you think Linus would come back as well in a guest star capacity?

Coronation Street has lined up some well-known people to join the show in 2011!

Great news, with Tracy back too I'm liking that the Barlow numbers are growing. Hopefully his sister will be introduced next, and I'd love Lawrence to make a return too, however short it may be. Linus Roache is a wonderful actor, and Corrie would be lucky to have him even just on a recurring basis.

Another great signing by Phil Collinson.

In 2011 Coronation Street will have added Rula Lenska, Chris Fountain, Stephanie Cole, Andrew Lancel and James Roache to it's cast. This is really fantastic news for the show! :)

Great news, but please keep him away from Sean. James is meant to be in his twenties and Sean is in his mid-thirties, I shouldn't wonder so I hope Phil Collinson isn't getting any ideas.
