I have voted No. We already allow too many unsuitable people to vote.

    Define "unsuitable."

Maybe we should look at Israel, they always have a high turnout apparently.

Like Jury service voting is a civic duty and pretty much a social duty IMHO; there is no way in the real world voting is 'crap,' it may be in Noise world but not in reality, the here and now.

I never said voting was crap, I said considering it as a civic duty is crap. If it is forced onto people then it is not a civic duty, no matter how you look at it. If any one was worth voting for it may be a different thing, but to be honest or they care about is how much money they can stuff in their back pockets. None of them are worth voting for, too many funny handshakes and corruption.

If you think they are worth voting for, then I am gla dI am living in my world. the news that came out today about Cyril Smith, have proved my point and if you think it is better in this day and age then I suggest you take your blinkers off.

I forget to mention one point, does it really make a difference to voting, when there are only two parties, who will be in control? People can vote for minority parties all they like but it will be either Labour or Conservatives again, in control. They are both very similar and there's no guarantee to any of the policies happening, and both have done just as much damage. Whoever is in control might just make no difference at all to the current state of things. I'm only leaning toward one party over the other, as they have some policies that would seem to help personally but it's only a gamble, as we're just taking their word for it.

Our voting system is out of date and need reforming, but when the British public was asked to make that changed, they got all scared and went back running to where it is safe.
Typical British public and people say I do not like change.

What criteria would you apply to allow a person to vote?

What's the logic behind your opinion.
You are saying people who have no opinion should be forced to vote.
I would hope everyone makes the effort to vote but above all they should have an opinion on who they are voting for. might as well drop the voting age to 5 yrs old as well if this was ever introduced.

Still better than what we have now. We had a chance to change things and we blew it, We will never have that chance again. Crap or not the new system could have been tweaked.

I'd like to see everyone vote but wouldn't want it to be made compulsory.

I'm more interested in what makes people vote the way they do.

I'd like to think that those who currently vote are all making "informed" choices.

    Dream on.....

    :(

If people can't be bothered to walk a hundred yards to a polling station, then tough!

    No, it's a stupid idea

There is no right to vote, only a right to choose.
