Probably is. The only reason you would need a specific PS3 cable is if the PS3 had a non standard HDMI connector.
So I suspect any old lead will work and you might be paying a premium simply because it has PS3 on the packaging! I would imagine something like this would work just as well at a third of the price.
Don't bother paying over the odds for HDMI cables. Unlike older analogue cables such as scart, cheap HDMI cables are just as good as the expensive ones as long as they are properly shielded.
My PS3 works quite happily with an Amazon bought cable that cost less than a fiver.
By the way, that BT shop one is a very good price for a 3 metre cable.
