I've been with O2 for a few years and have no complaints. The traffic management is only for p2p and even then it's only at certain times. A big plus for me is the fact their customer services are based in the UK and are available 24/7 on a freephone number.

Like most things, faults can seemingly develop out of the blue without anything specific triggering them. However ...

This suggests that you were on ADSL1 with AOL and ADSL2+ with us. The kit at the exchange your line connects to is different depending on the technology in use. So yes, it could be related.

We'll happily speak to anybody with your mum's consent but it would be helpful for you to be at your parents house when we do.

I've been with Plusnet over 2 years now and never had one single problem with them.

I reported a problem with slow speeds, they sent me 2 new routers and even sent out an engineer the next day to check my line, all free of charge. It turned out that the problem was with my laptop, but the modem needed to be replaced anyway due to reports of overheating so I was not charged for the call out.

The service is brilliant and the support is fantastic, couldn't ask for a better service.

The only thing that bothers me is the maximum download usage is 120gb a month (FTTC) but I am an extremely heavy user and would normally use more than that on some occasions and I can't afford to pay £5 for every extra 5gb I use. Other than that it's perfect.

When i was using AOL my broadband was really reliable, when i moved to Sky my line suddenly developed a HR fault and whenever the phone rang my broadband would get knocked off. Nothing had changed apart from the provider, it was probably coincidence but it does show these things happen.

In the end BTO replaced the copper from the nearest pole all the way to the master socket and bingo the problem vanished.

I had awful problems with BT and switched to talktalk (problem free), but...millions of other people are very happy with BT so I can't say they are a bad provider, just that I had problems with them and the odds are you will get good service from them.
