Using a gift card at Game to buy another gift card

I was given a gift card at christmas which I haven't used, I wan't to purchase another gift card for my friends birthday, can I use my gift card to buy anther one? I would give him my one but the picture is specific to a game that came out around the christmas time and he might remember giving it too me.

    From the terms and conditions on their site

    •The balance on a gift card cannot be exchanged for cash or gift vouchers in any format.

    I would buy something and return it and then get the balance as store credit on a gift card to get around that little rule. If that would actually work!
