This is just so sad. I've grown up with him since Mork and Mindy and have laughed and cried with him in so many films. RIP to a true genius. 😥

Thanks for that very useful comment. When someone very famous dies the thread usually starts in GD, and that is where it should stay.

I was shocked and sad when I heard. I thought he'd finally managed to beat his demons.

    Such a shame.

Take out the top 4 and it then reads like a list of sh!te films to avoid. One hour photo was good and should be in the list.

RIP - I've fond memories of Mork and Mindy and his stand up.

Just listening to the news about Robin Williams apparent suicide.

Loved his films and found him very funny. They quoted tweets from his wife saying she'd lost the love of her life and her soulmate and similar from his children and how sad and devastated and "utterly heartbroken" they are. I couldn't help feeling when people take their own lives leaving close family behind to deal with the heartache and consequences it is rather selfish of them. The love and needs of your family should pull you through.

Have to say though, he never struck me as the type to have problems/addictions to drink and (especially) drugs.

...and if you are so low that the love and needs of your family cannot pull you through a and you convince yourself they would be better off without you... What kind of black hell must that be?

I'm so sad about this. A warm, talented funny man. RIP. :(

    Top 10 ?........there are 14 there !

I haven't seen any of those

TBH, he never appealed to me much.........I think I saw clips from the Vietnam film and just thought he was just a loud 'shouter'

probably unfair but that early impression put me off him

    Well said.

Depression is a cruel illness. The torment he must've been in is, thank heavens, unimaginable to most of us. Reason often goes out the window when you are totally consumed by the illness.

This seems even more tragic as he made so many laugh and yet he couldn't help himself anymore.

    Rest easy now Robin.

One of the best stand up's I saw, though decades ago, was Robin Williams head to head with Billy Crystal.
