Two thousand emails from Genes Reunited!

I turned on my computer yesterday afternoon to find an unusually high number of emails in my inbox (I use Yahoo). When I logged in I saw that they were all the same email from Genes Reunited (which I joined a few years ago but never use) reminding me of some offer or other. Trouble is there were thousands of them! They had been coming in every few seconds all throughout yesterday afternoon.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or could it be that their computer got stuck on my email address and sent out emails to all its contacts but they all came to me. Is this possible? I have now blocked the address incase it happens again but this is the first time I have ever come across this phenomenon!
