12! In the last season we see an 85 year old DM whapping patients with his cane as he yells for them to get out of his surgery; discussing the latest MHRA report with his London surgeon son on the phone; and taking a Viagra pill for a night of romance with his wife Louisa....:)

Hah! :) I'll be watching from the nursing home.

There's a weird little thread that popped up a couple of times in S5 that I've meant to mention. I wonder what the rest of you think about it. What's the deal with Morwenna twice insulting the appearance of JH? It happens the first time in E4 or 5 (can't remember) when Doc is called away from the surgery for an emergency and Morwenna tells the woman left sitting there with her baby, "He's a cute one, not at all like the Doc's". It happens again in E8 when she's babysitting and the elderly woman comes in. The woman assumes JH is Morwenna's baby, and Morwenna says would I have a baby like that - look at him?

    What's the deal with that?

    Hello ladies.
    My annual visit to DS!
Went to MC's Buckham Down Fair and managed a meagre three pics of our host and his Clydesdale.

I know, it's odd. Especially since JH is cute to the store keeper and others, and of course the audience, during the DM reading to him scene, DM carrying him scenes, for example.

Perhaps Morwenna was taking other "safe" medications from her grand-dads old storage items...

Thanks for the laugh. There really is no other explanation :)

Of the babies featured on the show, the one on Louisa's knees when she tells Martin that she will go to London with him is absolutely adorable. I think he is the same one we see when Martin reads a medical journal to JH. Enchanting.

The one DM reads too is on the magazine covers advertising the series too. his name is Thomas : )

Thanks for the nice photos. He's got a little bit of a "Doc" look in the second one. I like!

Hah! Maybe that's it. It is a strange thing, isn't it? Okay, so some of the babies may be cuter than others and one of them really has a kind of Martin look to him, but they're babies, they're cute! I don't quite get Morwenna's POV and I don't understand the purpose of these odd comments.

When viewing a movie or TV show often time a scene will appear that doesn’t seem to “fit”. When I see one of these scenes I view it something that will make sense as the program progresses.
It seems to me that DM has more than its share of scenes that do nothing to move the plot or develop the characters.
For instance in S1E3 there is a scene with LG and the Headmaster that as far as I can tell does nothing but fill a few seconds of time. In S1S2 there are several scenes with LG in her car or walking in the hospital which again just fill time.
I don’t know that this leads anywhere but it does make me wonder if I’m missing something.

When Martin is reading the medical journal to JH, I noticed that he actually lightly tickled the baby's tummy, right before he started to read. Is this the only time that we see Martin actually playing with the baby? I know he tells him, in episode 7, that they'll have fun once he finishes the dishes -- but I don't think we see a playful Martin, except that once?

That's another thing I'm hoping we see more of in Series 6. Given Martin's ability to restore clocks, I bet he'd be great at building with blocks and Legos. Incredible creations ahead :D

Reggie Perrin showed up also. Must have signed a comprehensive relicensing.

Poor MC, hopefully PB doesn't read that. Neil gave away his secret - as if she hasn't figured it out already. :D. I wonder why she doesn't 'let' him drink the whiskey. Maybe something embarrassing like him streaking through the countryside after a few. :D

Maybe he can't stop at just one? Maybe he does like Lady Godiva on Chester??

Earlier in the same episode, as LG was leaving, he held JH up high and jiggled him.

    Hi everyone!

How are you all? I hope life is both grand and groovy for you.

In the meantime, had a very precious few minutes available, so thought Doc Martin Online should throw the re-watch project into action!

    If you're interested -
    http://www.docmartinonline.net/doc-martin-re-watch-project/

Think it might be fun. Any extra (implementable) ideas for this can be thrown our way at info@docmartinonline.net

I hope that this means that week by week we might be able to get the DMO website a bit ahead through the DMRP. Will see.

And Colin Towns - yeah, I'm totally aware of the need and want to have that interview public.

Thanks for the interest, and as always, your kindness and patience :D

Be well, stay cool and enjoy the re-watch! :)

Neil Morrissey says, “I do go drinking with Martin Clunes still. When I turn up at his house the first thing he says to me is ‘Fancy a scotch?’ and he is nodding at me and saying ‘Please say yes!’ At home his wife (TV producer Philippa Braithwaite) doesn’t really let him have scotch and as he is pouring it as his wife walks in the room, he will say ‘He asked for it!’ I’m his whisky excuse!”

I'm now making a list based on my memory of other interviews. . .

    1. Drink scotch
    2. Play some of his favorite music
    3. Restrict TV watching

Guess somebody needs to keep our guy in line. ;)

It is odd. Especially when we know everything has a purpose in the show. I could understand it if it was a teenager's attitude to babies - you know the type of teenager who says - yuck babies!! But it doesn't seem to be that, I don't think.

The car scene with LG in S1E2 is just so we can see the fruit on the dashboard!! :):):)

The rest add a bit of countryside and colour and join the scenes I guess.

Another DM smile that I don't think we've mentioned before:

S1E2 when Roger tells DM his secret is safe with him and DM says: "It's not likely you'll be able to tell anyone anyway" (After Roger has the surgery for his throat cancer because he won't be able to talk).

I love Roger and think it is great that DM seems to be on his wavelength. Both equally grumpy in this ep though!
