I remember that too, that why I find it annoying they gone down this route with the character.
Nope. The interview said he was ammoral and he would do whatever it took for Leela/Peri. They never stated he wouldn't be a villain and the very line above meant he was going to commit crimes/ set things up to get Leela/Peri. That is why I picked him from the off to be the driver.
In one of his first interviews he outright said that Cameron wouldn't be another villain. That's why a lot of people are probably annoyed by it when he was first announced I was like OH, joy another villain for HO then reading that I thought I'd give him a chance.
Typical villain Someone being ammoral usually means villain. I read his interviews and it was made perfectly clear from the off he was not going to be a good guy. It's why I was interested in his character as the interview stated he would do anything to get Leela/Peri. And from his pursuit of Sam, setting up Ziggy etc... he has hardly been a nice guy And it's realistic....going into prison at a young age and essentially coming of age in there, locked up for so many years to obsess about the person who put you there and your lost love; of course you'd come out messed up rather than a decent guy. Sam was terrified of him.
They aren't exaggerating the sentance he got as the charges would of stacked up against him. A youth can get 7 - 10 yrs for a robbery while causing injury. Like robbing a bank and hitting someone and carry a gun even though planted evidence would add another 4-7 years due to it be used in a robbery.

Thanks for the info. I was just trying to point out while Cameron may not be good guy, the writers aren't intending his storyline to be about the sexual abuse of Leela. I think this is clear, I'm not confused.
They said they were in the same classroom at the same time passing notes. He was driving without having passed the driving test. HO is an unrealistic soap. I don't know why people have to insist its unrealistic as to not pointing out Cameron is in fact a pedophile, as opposed to being unrealistic in terms juvenile driving or imprisonment. I suppose if you want to see this as some type of sexual assault situation its up too you. Then you can complain about the show glossing over sexual abuse and get indignant. I don't think that is the intent of writers however.
Still does not explain where he got his driving license from and the fact that it has been repeatedly stated that Cameron is older than Leela.

He is a bit older than Leela, but obviously not much. Isn't that what I said the situation is unrealistic but not unrealistic in the direction of sexual abuse? Does every unrealistic situation on Hollyoaks have to be seen to as some kind of sexual abuse?

You said he was an adult (or at least 17) sleeping with a 13 year old child. Which if that were true would be a form of sexual abuse. I think its pretty clear that isn't the case, that Cameron is likely no more than 2 years older than Leela from things said so far:. Leela saying they were both kids at the time they slept together, Cameron talking about sharing the same classroom and teacher, Sam never mentioning the fact he was an adult sleeping with a child under the age of consent etc..
Reading back I didn't mention sexual abuse but you are right thinking about it 17 year old with a 13 year old would be a form of abuse. As far as i'm aware you have to be 17 to start learning to drive. As Cameron has been driving legally since his release from prison (otherwise Sam would of arrested him) he had to have his license before going in. Shared memories at school who knows maybe he was kept back a few years that doesn't make much sense if its 2,4 or 6 years difference in their ages. Sam never really mentioned much of anything she chose her course of action and went with it.

I think the question has been answered by the show already, Cameron was not a 17-20 year old having sex with a thirteen year old. The stuff about the driving is the unrealistic part. You wouldn't hold someone back more than 4 years or so and stick them with a class of 13 year olds. Some people are just obsessed with there being a large difference in Cameron's and Leela's ages so they can make a point about HO not addressing the supposed sexually abusive situation. So much less inflammatory to say they got it wrong about Cameron being able to legally drive when he came out of prison.
I don't think Cameron has been turned into a villain at all I think that he always was one.
I've never really bought into him being too nice and thought there was something sinister going on. One thing HO does quite well though is give many of it's characters a lot of dark and light. The baddies usually show a soft side and the good guys are flawed.

Yea I agree, and from all the subtle hints he isn't that much older maybe a few months.
Why would Sam arrest him for driving without a licence when she is scared of him, she wouldn't of, she was too interested to get Peri out of the country so I doubt Cameron even has a licence.

Once again I will state I said nothing about sexual abuse nor I might add have I said anything about HO not addressing such. I still hold the view from what I've seen that Cameron was not as young or innocent as HO would now have us believe, if you wish to that is up to you.

I've brought it up because I've see this being mentioned in other threads about how Cameron must be much older than Leela and that HO is glossing over the situation of an adult having sex with a child. Cameron many not be innocent ( he is responsible for Sam and Danny's deaths) but he was in fact young when he went to prison. The idea that he is much older than HO is making out comes from speculation on DS, not that I can see anything said on the soap.
Also I might add that Cameron Moore the actor who plays Cameron is 27 close to the age his character is supposed to be not 33 or 34. If he was 5 or 6 years older than Leela who is 28 the character would be close to his mid-thirties.
It's annoying, I really liked Cameron at first and the actor is very good! It isn't even a real surprise that it was him that killed him, surely that was everyone's first thought?! It just sucks to have yet another criminal walking the streets because everyone has something on everyone else and every gets away with it!
Because the bad boys tend to be the more interesting characters? (With some exceptions, of course.) Unless I have missed something, though, Cameron was not responsible for Sam and Danny's deaths, was he (except possibly indirectly)? Surely the fatal collision was an accident, caused by Danny pulling out from a side street without looking left and right? The only thing that Cameron did wrong was to leave the scene of the accident without reporting it. If Sam and/or Danny were still alive at that point, then he might conceivably have contributed indirectly to her/his/their death but, judging by the state their car was in, I doubt either of them was still alive.

you're right, I don't think it was deliberate or planned. What Cameron did wrong was leave the scene. Someone else said something about Cameron being amoral, I think that is right. He wanted to do what it took to keep Leela and Peri. Also he had motive to really hate Sam and Danny at the moment of the accident. I understand somewhat why he would do what he did.
I thought the whole point was the van revved up and charged into the car, then left the scene of the accident. It wasn't that they rammed a lamppost, the van saw it and left them. ie. it's not a case of him just leaving the scene. He also caused the accident.
And it's never justified to cause an accident/ kill someone. They had every right to take Peri out of the country. Cameron, I'm assuming, is not on the birth certificate and thus would have no rights re Peri. And he was frightening Sam, terrifying her in the woods. He was just as bad as Sam. Which is why I don't understand about all this "nice" talk. He's never been portrayed as nice. We've seen be nice to Peri, but it was clear he was a mixed up individual from the start. He's been manipulating people, interfering with Ziggy/Leela from the start. Not to mention it is a little weird to think Leela and him would just pick up where they left off. They were kids and it has been 14 years. That in itself told us he was not normal. What's interesting about his character, which is different to some others is that he is a damaged individual. He's been messed up by prison, clinging to this memory of Leela and now this image of some nice happy family. Now we'll see him do whatever it takes to get that, at whatever cost (which is why he is ammoral). All the best characters have some redeeming features. i.e. Sienna. Her love for her daughter and what Patrick put her through makes us sympathise with her.
Before I quite liked Cameron and he had a strong motive but making him a murderer was boring because everyone else is and it's annoying because now Ziggy is going to be the big hero and how long is Cameron staying in hollyoaks or are they going to have another murderer walk the street for months. BK doesn't plan up to one week ahead. So he thinks of the shocks and then he doesn't know what to do with the character, is that why his brother is coming?
They did not turn him into one, he always was one. i cannot stand him and the Lomaxes have been ruined with the Peri/Leela reveal and Sam and Dannys death.
The sooner Cameron goes back to jail the better.
It's annoying how so many of the characters in HO are villains/villainous/murderers/gangsters like, I get that recently especially, it's OTT and I guess that's the route it'll be going down but seriously..
We have Cindy, Mercedes, Lindsey (I'll include them as murderers with the Browning scenario), Sonny, Theresa, Finn, Sienna, Patrick, Rick, Freddie, Trevor, Grace, Bob and now Cameron.. I remember reading an interview saying they wouldn't turn his character into a villain guess that was a lie.
Agreed, he could of been a great character played by a good actor, but now he has been turned into a villian and killed off the Lomax parents then he is on borrowed time, i bet he is dead by this time next year knowing Hollyoaks>:(
The actor playing Cameron is DREADFUL. Almost as bad as the Roscoes.
They are exaggerating/ being unrealistic with the amount of time a juvenile of 14 or 15 could get in prison. Cameron was not an adult at the time he went to prison. I think this has been answered definitively the day after Sam and Danny died. The day they were on the roof talking about being in the same class together passing notes back and forth running away from their horrible teacher answered this question. Cameron is not 5 or 6 years older than Leela he has to be about her age to be together with her in the classroom with the same teacher. Super corrupt Sam managed to send a kid down for 14 years, he's not an almost pedophile.
He must ave been 17/18. NO WAY was he the same age as Leela, a 13 year old would not have been sent down for that long.
he was always a bad guy, he still was part of a robbery and he slept with a 13 year old. He deserves all he gets. I cannot believe people defend him!

Why has he got to have a licence, thousands of people drive without one, especially ex cons.
Its like Sinead when she stole that car, when did she learn to drive when we have seen her grow up on screen.... but does it really matter.
Yea I agree, and from all the subtle hints he isn't that much older maybe a few months.

As an ex-con and murderer, I doubt keeping within the law and getting his drivers licence even crossed his mind.
