On channel 5 news just now they said they contacted Zayn's spokesperson (presumably his mother) and the official word from his spokesman: "no comment"

Most men don't like pop music. Why would any man who has enough money to see out his days at 22 carry on singing stuff he knows is nonsense aimed at mass market kids and be happy?

Harry styles will surely be the next one. Poor old Zane. He always seems exhausted and fragile

What are the people here who say they don't get royalties banging on about? I'm no fan of them, but they do have a lot of writing credits.

Do they? I was only going by a Wikipedia sweep when I was "banging on" as you put it. If they all wrote lots of their hits then great it will give them some added security

Well sex with someone who's not your fiancé does seem to do that you.

He's earned enough money to set him up for life. But I tend to agree, he seems clearly very unhappy, money and fame has ruined many a person.

He could stand to lose a lot if he walks. He'd be breaking contract prematurely and it was reported they have a clause in which they'd lose a massive cash incentive/bonus if any of them leave before it expires. Lawyers fees and back payments have taken many a millionaire to the cleaners too.

I'm surprised how quick people are to assume he's a guilty cheat, based on little evidence so far and the flip side is there are people who think he and Perrie are just a PR thing anyway. But whatever your take, the spinning of this story seems to be coming mostly from the trash rags and Twitter.

I never take One Direction at face value unless it's Harry throwing rainbow glitter around.

They seem to have been touring for years now and have looked unwell and unkempt in some of their photos. I know they're young and are making the money when they can but their lifestyle is sure to start to tell on them at some point.

Only if he sticks to living off only the interest.

He shouldn't cheat but what has that to do with being exploited/overworked and used to line Cowells pockets with no regard for health

I'm waiting for the "Zayn and Perrie have split" articles now.

I see you get off on sticking the boot in. Interesting comments you're making.....very subtle..

Fair play to him. He's bought a house (or two...), he's in a relationship, sounds like a sensible decision. I quite admire him for making such a huge decision. He's clearly putting his own welfare first if these reports are true. At least he's not willing to play the fame game at any cost.

    Classy guy, not.

I honestly don't see what Zayn has done to warrant some of the negative comments he's received. He's 22, unmarried, no kids - when you consider how a lot of 'mature' celebrities behave....

Do you understand that he/they are signed up to a legally-binding contract, which if broken early, could cost him and the group hugely?

This contract is so fundamental to One Direction, Sony and Modest Management, that it is the reason One D have existed intact for the last 5 years. It might be the case that Zayn hates what he does, but under contract he can't just walk away so easily

Yep. I still don't understand how people just automatically lap up the spiel they are told by the rags. Or believe the rubbish planted on Twitter by revenue-generating bot accounts posing as update accounts. Nobody knows what's gone on except Zayn and this girl.

He may be a cheat, if so, it's his biz. But has anyone thought he could have been escorting a lone female around in Thailand so she didn't get targeted by weirdos if they thought they were together? Maybe they were already friends or known to each other? Maybe him and Perrie were on the outs anyway. Or just a for-the-cameras couple. There are other possibilities outside buying the Daily Star version of events.

Estimates suggest they are worth £15m each. If he has decent advisors that will last him easily.

But we may see the rise of Harry and Zayn into solo superstars. These guys have real star quality. Don't hold out hope for the rest of them.

He's in his early 20's and been in a band since he was a teenager. I'm no One Direction fan, but really, none of us have ever been in such an abnormal situation - stress and silliness can arise from such situations. We're in no position to judge.

I doubt it. Boyband members going on to big solo careers are pretty rare.
