That presents some interesting challenges in the UK, where the press is permitted to have a poltical slant (and where just about all the papers do), but where the TV news channels can't. It takes quite a skilled journalist to switch off their political leanings when they appear on screen. Sky News for example sail very close to the wind on occasions, although I don't believe Ofcom have found they have crossed it too often, if at all. But I can't imagine Adam Boulton, Kay Burley et al are reading the Socialist Worker in their spare time.

I was a little surprised to read Paxman admitted he's a Tory in an interview earlier this year, although maybe that wasn't news to those who watched Newsnight etc more often than I did.

Well there are numerous reporters who don't share the political inclinations of their papers, and moving from right wing to left wing papers isn't all that unusual.

Adam Boulton is a Blairite - he wrote a book largely sympathetic to the Blair project, while he had an affair with and later married one of Blair's senior spin doctors, Anji Hunter. Whether his views are reflected on-air is another matter. Alastair Campbell famously told Boulton he was favouring the Conservatives, whereas many would argue, myself included, that David Cameron is much more the heir to Blair than Ed Miliband has ever been, therefore it wouldn't have been much of a leap for Boulton to make. The Blairites in the Labour Party would privately favour a Cameron government over an Ed Miliband one.
