I'm thinking of getting a Blackberry but am just wondering if someone could please explain the ins and outs of setting up my email accounts on it - as long as I have access to an email account through whatever means, will I be able to easily set up one on my Blackberry? I'm thinking of setting one up in conjunction with my college email account - would this be easy to do if I simply knew the correct settings (in this case a https:// portal allowing me accessing to an exchange server for my college) or would I need to notify my college's IT department to set it up for me?

If your college has a BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) you might want to get them to add your device to it. The advantage of that is that email comes to you rather than your device having to go somewhere to fetch it. It would give them quite a lot of control over your device, though (which is why businesses tend to like Blackberries).

The alternative to BES is BIS (Blackberry Internet Service). There you define up to 10 email accounts that your device can connect to. You can usually either do this on the device itself or on a web site such as http://www.o2email.co.uk/.

    This help screen:
    https://bis.eu.blackberry.com/html//web/help/en//wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=bis_html&topic=da_integration_add_password
(have a read of "Add a Microsoft Outlook work email address ") suggests that you can set it up to talk to Outlook Web Access (which is what it sounds like you college may have set up).

I've never tried it myself, though, and would definitely check in the shop first to make sure.
