Elizabeth Taylor had her hair cut short on screen (I think) for National Velvet in 1944.

    That's what the thread is....

I think you read the title wrong.

There's a big difference between stars who cut their hair for a part, and stars who had their hair cut ON SCREEN. As in, Natalie's was actually cut on screen.

Suburbia! Just remembered a scene of a young girl cutting a little boy's hair and shaving the sides to give him a Mohawk on screen.

Didn't Audrey Hepburn have her hair cut in a film? I think the one where she becomes a nun? EDITED: Yes. A Nun's Story. Here's a snippet of the hair-cutting scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Man0DywvP8

Cate Blanchett got a skinhead in the 2002 film Heaven.

And she lost her locks at the end of Elizabeth when Elizabeth I was transformed into the Virgin Queen.

The mohawk he had was a (very convincing) wig.

It's as if Audrey Hepburn was continuously drawn to roles that saw her character's hair being cut at some point! Her characters in Roman Holiday and Sabrina also went from long to short styles.

Oh what an idiot I've been. I wrote a post thinking that the thread was asking for actors who have lost their looks on screen. Now I notice that it says 'locks'.:D

I only noticed when reading back through some posts on this page everyone was talking about hair. Which I thought was weird. 'What on earth is going on?' I thought. Then I read the thread title again.

Persis Khambatta as Ilia in 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture'

You can watch the emotional experience of Persis getting her head shaved.

Studio bosses were horrified when Rita Hayworth had her hair cut short (and dyed blonde) for "Lady From Shanghai".

I imagine Deborah Kerr had her hair cut short for "Heaven Knows Mr Allison".

Marlon Brando in 'Apocalypse Now.'....or was he naturally bald?

    Tom Hardy.

I remember Elizabeth Taylor having her hair cut off as a punishment in 'Jane Eyre'. She was a child star and played Jane Eyre's friend in the film. That scene really shocked me at the time.

Sigourney Weaver for Alien 3, but didn't see her hair being shaved off though

I thought she suited the buzz cut. I'm sure the fee increase she negotiated for it at the time softened the blow as well.
