Must be loads of these, but this is one of my faves...

When John Belushi was making 1941, he went missing from the set for a night. They went looking for him, and someone said they had seen him go into a suburban neighbourhood and go to someone's house.

Apparently, he just walked up to a random door, knocked, said 'Hi, I'm John Belushi can come in?'!

And they invited him in and he proceeded to raid their fridge and made himself at home.

I just cannot imagine the look on the houseowners face when John Belushi knocked...must have been a superb WTF moment.

belushi was totally mixed up. "wired" by bob woodward is an engrossing biography. there is also a film of the book.

Olivier to Hoffman, obvious but a classic.

    Another one I like:
Jack Lemmon used to tell a story about being directed by George Cukor. Cukor kept telling him to “do less”, finally Lemmon said “If I do any less, I won’t be doing anything at all!”

    Cukor smiled and replied “Exactly”

All the on-set stories from Heaven's Gate

Like Michael Cimino waiting a whole day until a cloud appeared that he liked the look of.
