I'm hoping that Camille will throw a big tantrum next week when Richard announces he's back off to London!!!

You're right about Ben Miller being the reason the show works. It's his whole 'fish-out-of-water', quintessentially British man (in a suit!) wanting a decent cup of tea that endears him to us the viewer and to his colleagues in the police station.
The commander didn't show up this week, I love how he always turns up when Richard is slagging him off!!
I'd quite like him to go back to London and then realise at the start of Season Three that he doesn't like being home, but giving Fidel and Camille time to try and run the station at the start too.
When they filmed the end of series 2, presumably they had no idea whether there'd be a series 3 or not, so in some ways it wouldn''t surprise me if he does go back and then returns.
I have noticed in the last few episodes-especially last week's-that there has been more and more of an emphasis on how Richard really didn't fit in back in London. It might have been Doug Anderson (Neil Pearson's character) who originally turned Richard's colleagues against him, but I'm sure Richard said something about the situation not changing after DA left.
Maybe in contrast to the ending of the first series, where the Commissioner tricked him in to staying, at the end of the second series, Richard will voluntarily decide to stay, because in spite of his idiosyncracies he fits in better there. No idea if that's at all likely-all speculation on my part-but I suppose that in spite of the lack of a decent cup of tea and way too much sunshine, it could happen.:)
Another observation I have noticed is that Richard plays with things to the irritation of Camille.
In last nights show at the start he was twiddling something in his hands which she took away from him. There was an episode when he was tapping on the murder board which received a "stop that" look. There was the time when they were at the back of the lecture and he picked at something on the table behind him to her initial "don't do that" and her disapproval when he caused items to fall off the table.
I'm really, really glad that there's going to be a third series. I love the fact that all four characters are essentially decent, kind people. It may be Midsomer-mad, but so what? It's the four police people whose characters enchant.
I think they could keep the sexual tension up for quite a long time. Even if the two got married, there would still be problems between foxy, passionate Camille and stiff, repressed Richard. He'd always be dead worried that she was much too gorgeous for him.
Well I think even if they didn't know a third series was going to be commissioned, they would know it might be on the cards, and so leave us with a bit of a cliff hanger/ run on for another series
Watched last nights episode good as usual. It occurred to me when they stayed overnight in the college or weather office. That when they were settling down for the night and Camile went to go to sleep that if they got married it would be Like that her getting exasperated with him. He reminded me of Richard Briars in Ever Decreasing Circles.:)
Not sure it will stretch out for a fourth series.... after all theres only so many people that can be murdered on an island. Mind I don't think you would like to live in Midsummer county!

I have to say, I've really, really enjoyed series 2 so far. It's been fantastic. I'm really looking forward to series 3 now - and hopefully series 4.
From a "whodunnit" point of view I don't think it has been as consistantly good as the first series, but the development of the characters has made up for that.

Loved this week's, never guessed it was the professor. Just wish Richard would take his tie off once in a while, he would be a bit :cool:er.

I wonder if the BBC pays these people's travelling expenses for what in the end is a jolly.
I imagine the juciest part is the murder victim, because then you only need to film a couple of scenes?
The viewer has the pleasure of spotting a well-known face and enjoying lightly-dressed good-looking people; the famous face gets a nice jaunt to Guadaloupe...it's a win-win!

Also agree with this one - however I have really enjoyed this series too. One thing I do miss is they seem to have less time spent on the socialising aspect. In the first series the last five minutes were in the bar, now its just a minute or two.
And to the script writers.... You had better have made something happen between Richard and Camille in the last episode.!
This again has been a brilliant series, loved every minute of it, and yes love Ben miller as a actor, saw him last year on stage in The Ladykillers and he was so funny..

Isn't Richard old enough to be Camille's father? I don't know what their ages are supposed to be, but he seems much older than her (although perhaps that's due to the 'old fashioned' way he's portrayed).
This is just a formulaic style like modern day Murder She Wrote or Diagnosis Murder but it really works.
It's so utterly obvious every week, its predictable as hell, but its fun to watch. You sorta switch the brain off and engage. A show that just as easily could be in the Doctors slot as prime time
