A Difference of 909,000. :eek:

And if you count Applause 218,000 (#6) and Roar 557,000(#2) a difference in Gaga's lead of just 570,000 which shows that Katy's higher single sales close the gap. All to play for in their home country. I suspect worldwide figures tell a different story.

Anyone want to compile Rihanna's American Sales now? ;):eek:

All figures from @chartnews on twitter.

And yes, I have nothing planned for this evening so have a lot of time. :p

    Rihanna has sold more singles in the US than those two, but she's sold less than 10 million copies of her 7 albums over there... Six platinum records doesn't really say much if they've only just crossed the million units sold.

    What are her total single figures? (Interested to see how close it is seeing as she had a few years start on them)

    I think she is nearing 70 million singles sold in the US. In 2011 she had sold 47 million, and she sells at least 10 million every year, so she'd be around 65-68 now, I'd say.

    I'm surprised their total single sales are so close, considering.

    So she will take over Gaga in 2 or 3 weeks?

    Quite amazing how BIG Katy is with singles....
    She started in 08 (same as Gaga) and in the past few years Katy has become more of a success and Gaga is on the decline. (I know she aint flopping but its still a decline in sales compared to 08/09)

    Katy 1st Era (08/09)

    I Kissed A Girl - 4,444,000 (Apr 08)
    Hot N Cold - 5,414,000
    Thinking of You - 1,079,000
    Waking Up In Vegas - 2,211,000 (Aug 09)
    TOTAL = 13,148,000

    Gaga 1st Era (08/09/10)

    Just Dance - 6, 809,000 (Apr 08)
    Poker Face - 6,987,000
    LoveGame - 2,558,000
    Paparazzi - 3,388,000
    Bad Romance - 5,401,000
    Telephone - 3,268,000
    Alejandro - 2,473,000 (May 10)
    Total = 30,884,000

    Difference = +17,736,000 (In Gaga's Favour)

    Katy 2nd Era (10/11/12)

    Californai Girls - 5,542,000 (May 10)
    Teenage Dream - 4,573,000
    Firework - 6,341,000
    E.T - 5,606,000
    Last Friday Night - 3,470,000
    The One That Got Away - 2,617,000
    Part Of Me - 2,662,000
    Wide Awake - 3,074,000 (Dec 12)
    Total = 33,885,000

    Gaga 2nd Era (2011)

    Born This Way - 3,918,000 (Feb 11)
    Judas - 942,000
    Edge Of Glory - 2,792,000
    You & I - 2,181,000
    Marry The Night - 500,000 (Dec 11)
    Total = 10,333,000

    Difference = +23,552,000 (In Katy's Favour)

    Total Single Sales

    Katy = 47,033,000
    Gaga = 41,213,000

    Both Gals have done fantastic and their album percentage drops/increases are interesting also

    Katy
    One of The Boys - 1,529,000
    Teenage Dream - 2,749,000
    Percentage Increase = +44.38%

    Gaga

    i disagree, most of her album campaigns have been over within a year, so to achieve 6 platinum albums in such quick succession is quite impressive in my opinion.

    Well....I would love someone to update me with who's on top now...:)

    It would be pretty difficult to compare on recent albums and single sales as Lady Gaga's record company has been pretty sketchy on sales figures in fact blatantly misleading. They claim Art Pop has WW sales of 2.5 million however considering U.S sales,UK sales and France don't even account for 1 million and they are the three biggest markets there must be a lot of warehouses with the other 1.5 million copies. They have also not released sales figures for her recent singles. Her current tour they have released as 100% sold out yet attendance figures of 8000 in stadiums that have a capacity of 18'000 pretty much confirm they are. If you look at all the U.S. Dates and capacity figures of venues compared to attendance figures there is a huge difference. Her European figures have not been released however going off recent concerts i.e. Greece the capacity was 75,000 yet it's reported only 20,000 tickets sold.
    Realistically speaking Katy Perry I think will be ahead now.
