Hey DS,
Kickstarter Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1804794777/flarecast-the-app-that-alerts-others-if-your-batte
My Names Brandon and i'm 17 years old. For the past year and a half i have been working constantly to develop an app which would be truly meaningful and help rectify a problem we all experience. Flarecast is an application 'which alerts chosen others if your battery dies or goes low'. I found this was a huge problem amongst the younger generations because of the worry and concern it put on parents and loved ones. Initial feedback immediately confirmed my belief and the feedback was great. I also found that this issue was not just contained to anyone group, but was also present across an entire range of mobile and tablet users. For the past year and a half i have stringently been working to make sure that the apps functionality was as polished as possible and that also the entire design was right and could be understood by anyone.
It was immediately clear that i would develop and app where design was kept minimal so users would only see the content required to improve and aid there experience and also make sure Flarecast was working in favour of your battery! I must say, there has been some huge changes along the way! I wanted to make flarecast about YOU! After all, I'm committing myself to providing potential users with the best service and product.
I have always seen myself as an individual who has a seriously overactive mind! In a good way! Product Design is something I'm hugely passionate towards. This whole process of designing an app and finding and communicating with individuals from the technology industry who could help where possible was really enjoyable. Throughout this entire process i also had the chance to hold and attend group meetings where i could receive feedback and understand the needs of the users further. Launching and holding an event online was also very exciting!

Also, I know a lot of people who have managed to develop phone apps without needing to resort to crowd-funding... even down to learning code and dealing with that side of things themselves if that's where all your money is going...
Well, as he is only 17 and still finding his way about, you have already taught him two valuable lessons:
1) When you market, spread your net as far and as wide as possible.
2) Don't be put off if you encounter unfriendly, unhelpful dicks who won't give you the time of day. There are a lot of them about, but there are also quite a few more clued-up folk who don't take themselves so seriously and will try and give you a leg up.
