    Oh I know that! I had one after having a wisdom tooth removed a few years back.

    Sounds to me like it was indeed a dry socket. It is excruciatingly painful ..... I had one years ago when I was a smoker and didn't listen to the advice about not smoking.

    I have never had pain like that and it lasted nearly a month.
