Not a surprise but Beth officially announced her retirement today.

Her achievements speak for themselves - Olympic Bronze, 3 World golds, 6 European golds & Commonwealth Gold. Her longevity is also amazing, competing for GB for over 10 years & until the age of 27 when few gymnasts compete past their early 20s.

But arguably her greatest achievement is as a pioneer for her sport in this country. She showed that British gymnasts could compete & excel on the world stage which has paved the way for others in recent years. She is still to date the only British Gymnast to have won a world title though I am sure this will change in the next few years.

Great to see she is working to get more youngsters into the sport through her gymnastics academy & getting gymnastics in more schools with Total Gymnastics.

Nice video here of Beth talking about some of her career highlights.

Agree entirely OP (I think Beth is 28 now? Very 'old' for a competitive gymnast.

Loved her bars routine at Beijing!
