It's incredibly sad to know that Bernie is dying.:( Cancer has been incredibly cruel to that family.
II feel so sorry for Bernie, apart from the fact she knows her life is coming to an end it must be unbearable for her knowing that she will never be able to see her daughter grow up.
Rumours started to circulate on Tuesday on Facebook about Bernie passing. I work with Anne (her sister) and Amy her niece so this has really upset them as the rumours are not true. They are obviously distraught at the thought of it going to happen without this.
Could you pass on my best wishes to Bernie and her family to, via Lee, thanks.
No problem, will do. Will also point out this thread to them both.
We (well the rest of us that work with Anne and Amy) know what a close family they are, and if they need a shoulder to cry on there is always one of us to listen with a cuppa and a shoulder for them to lean on.
They have all been through a lot at and living your life in the spotlight can't be easy, but to have things plastered on the internet is even harder (especially when not true) and when it can be read by family members is disgusting. Both Amy and Alex (Annes other daughter) were rightly upset reading on FB the RIP messages on Tuesday.
Its very sad i just want to add she is a talented actress and singer i do wish her and her family all the best,i occasionally watched brookside, and the Bill and enjoyed her characters in both.:(
It is very sad news indeed, she always comes across as such a decent and warm lady, such a shame for her and her family. It was good to read that she was returning home from the hospice, I know she isn't getting better but nice to know she will be at home surrounded by her family and the comfort of her own house.
Big hugs to them all. Bernie always came across as the 'tomboy' of the sisters when they were younger and has the cheekiest smile. My dad met the Nolans a couple of times, I think, when they first got going and did the club circuit. He was the secretary of a Working Mens' Club in Leeds and used to book the acts. He said they were a pleasure to have in the club. Bernie was only little at the time. This was before they became well known on telly but he said it was no surprise when they became popular.
As above, she's not dead, unless I'm misreading your post?
I think Diamond Doll probably meant that hopefully Bernie will be pain free now as in medication etc to make whatever time she has left as comfortable as possible.

That was my impression too.
What a terrible bloody disease cancer is. This is all terribly sad.
Cancer is such a devastating disease.. And sadly I bet we have all witnessed its devastation .. I hope that how ever much time Bernie has she is able to spend it peacefully and pain free with those she loves ..

My heart goes out to Bernie and her family, I lost my darling mom to this cruellest of diseases.
Bernie has always come across as a warm and bubbly lady. I do hope she is now pain free and is able to have some peaceful, calming time with her loving family.
My grandmother died of cancer (many years ago now) and there did indeed come a point where the only thing they could do was make her comfortable and pain free.
My thoughts (and hugs) are with Bernie and her loved ones.
This is becoming a bit of an 'appreciation' thread, amongst all the good will. Would be interesting if people could say a bit about what they like about Bernie as well as the focus on the obvious, sad as it it. I think she was a total revelation in 'Popstar to Opera Star'. Amazing. Also, don't the Nolans have some kind of Guinness world record for the largest number of sisters playing the lead role in a stage musical (Mrs. Brown in 'Blood Brothers')? Haven't four or five of them done it, Bernie being one of them? That's a great family achievement! I love musical theatre but I haven't seen that one, yet, and wouldn't want to, now, without a Nolan in the lead part. I wonder what Bernie's favourite professional role has been, stage or telly.

Popstar to Operastar, she was fantastic in that. I was never a fan of the Nolan Sisters as I was too young (and wouldn't have been anyway, they are not my thing, sorry). I think she should have won Popstar to Operastar.
Bernie was deffo robbed in Popstar to Operastar, she has always had such a powerful voice.
Enjoyed watching Bernie in The Bill and she was excellent in The Calendar Girls which she did after beating cancer in 2010
4 of them have played the part of Mrs Brown in Blood Brothers, Denise, Maureen, Linda and Bernie.

Mrs Brown?
Mrs Johnson is the mother I think, or am I thinking of someone else?
