What did you think of the return of Simon and Cheryl, Mel B joining the panel and the premiere in general?

I voted 4/5 - promising indeed, the panel is so much better now Barlow's gone! I predict an entertaining series, with fun in it again.

What did you think of the 2014 X Factor premiere? 176 votes

I gave it a 2. Way too many boring joke acts. 1 or 2 are fine but they didn't even it out with good talent. Just a lot of mediocrity.

The judges dynamic is good - would be even better if scary was allowed to be more rude.(im sure she will or maybe its unbroadcastable?)

TBH the acts so far have all been very mediocre.

Pretty much a five way split at the moment so doesn't suggest anything... :p

I loved tonight's show, the talent was average but the judging panel more than made up for it. I love Cheryl and Mel B, and it's nice to have Simon back.

    2.

The panel is good, it's the acts that were miserable.

~70% think 3 or more out of 5.

    :)

    2/5

Up until 45 mins in, there was only one act I thought sounded OK, I can't even remember her name. Amy was probably the best one tonight vocally but I wasn't that into her either. Any talent show that has only two people who you think are OK is a poor show.

Can't be bothered with joke acts, they aren't even that entertaining, we've seen them all before.

I did learn that I hate male singers who sound like little boys, or girls. Sadly that's the brand of male singer that dominates XF.

Average. I preferred the last half of the show, I thought it picked up a bit halfway through. Chloe Jasmine was my favourite tonight and I liked the guy at the end.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't amazing.

I hope the future episodes aren't going to be judge focused, like it was tonight with Cheryl. I think Mel has the potential to be brilliant, loved her comments when the guys were giving Cheryl all the attention. :D

If the role of the tonight's episode was to establish the panel and take a lighthearted approach then it worked well. If it was showing the best of the talent then there is a distinct problem ahead when it hits the live shows.

Painfully staged and scripted, even more so than usual, but still entertaining at least.

I wanted to like it, but the reality is that after all these years the format is just utterly stale. About half way through I ended up paying more attention to my tablet than the show. Not a good sign.

It was way better than last year's boring premiere.

    4. Simon back has put new spark into it. He's the only judge people want to listen to.

The winner so far is 4/5 with 25% of the vote (out of 156 votes).

65% of all voters chose 3/5 or higher (out of 156 votes).

Paired with the strong ratings for the launch it would appear the stars are in The X Factor's favour this year!
